Sorry ridiculously long title, basically that's the jist of it. I want a summer day dress that's casual but smart enough for a nice day out.

I see women in the summer who look amazing in dresses and so effortless.

I'm a size 18/20 pear shape. Small of nork, large of thigh!

In reality I know it'll never be effortless because I always need Spanx and fake tan!

I could do with one of these too!

Banana Republic had some very flattering jersey-ish Grecian maxi dresses (patio dresses in their terminology) last year. I bought one and was so impressed by its skimming magic I went back and got it in the other colours.

The size range is very wide. My friend is a 20 and she also bought one (and looks great in it). Lots of us size 14 and up bought them, actually. Everyone was asking about them.

I bet they have a version this year. I'll have a look.

I'm a 16 of similar body type.

I have a dress similar to this one from Seasalt. www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/women/clothing/dresses-and-tunics/lyonesse-patterned-fit-flare-dress_layered_tulips_dark_cuckoo.htm

Coveres all the below waist sins.

Oh thank you! I wouldn't have thought of any of those places. Really like the shirt dress from jaegar and the seas alt one looks really comfy.

I love my knee length jersey swing dresses from Monsoon (though am sure others do them). So comfortable, hide lumps and bumps, no creasing and can dress up or down.

Nobody would know about your thighs in this and it has pockets.

Lindy Bop (online) are very stylish and surprisingly cheap. Think that they have a sale on too. Regular stuff goes up to size 24-26.

(And when I say cheap, I don't mean poorly made, I mean £30-40 for a dress and sometimes down to £10-15 when they have sales. They also have lovely kiddie dresses for £15-20, which go down to £6-10 when it's sale time. Win.

Am currently browsing for the same thing but with massive tits, need to breastfeed and a post baby stomach thrown in.

This is my shortlist so far. Love the first one, could be worn anywhere

I bought a dress from m&co yesterday - the butterfly v neck one, and there are a few others I'd happily wear from their website.

Watching. Body shape different to yours but desperate need for cool summer dresses for daytime so will be interested to see what gets suggested.

I have the jaeger one in black, I find it very cool and ideal for work, I wear it with a narrow leather belt though
