holidays abroad - what do you wear to travel in?

Haven't flown for years and thinking what to wear to travel in. Jeans would be fine in the English airport at 5am and on the plane but I suspect I'd be boiling once we got to Greece. We have a 1 hour car journey once we get there too.

What do you wear to travel in when you're flying to somewhere warm? Are jeans/ jeggings a bad idea?

I wouldn't wear jeans. I usually travel in harem trousers or patterned wide leg trousers with a sleeveless top and a cardigan and scarf so I can layer up if needed Smile

I've just been in this very same predicament and found fairly loose fitting boyfriend jeans (rolled up to mid calf) a camisole top and light jacket to be the answer. I also took a very light knit cards in my hand luggage to combat overly aggressive plane air conditioning.

The jeans were astonishingly non-roasting in the hot climate too - I was really surprised!

Goes without saying, but never travel in anything white - its a recipe for disaster...

A black maxi dress or maxi skirt and cami top, thin scarf and cardi. Whip the scarf and cardi off just before getting off the plane.

Loose clothes ideally a skirt with thin top n cardi so it's easy to remove in hot climates

I usually wear jeans.

We have a 10 hour flight coming up. I am going to wear jeans and a loose shirt and take a cashmere poncho for when I am freezing on the plane. I am always freezing on planes.

Lots to think about - thanks. I hadn't thought of wearing a dress or scarf, I may go with that. I'm not sure Harem trousers look good on me. I do have boyfriend jeans so maybe they are an option after all.

And yes to no white - especially as I'll have a baby with me. That would just be asking for trouble!

Benny - are you going somewhere warm? If you've warn jeans before are you a hot sweaty mess once you've left the airport at the other end?

I normally go for a jersey dress (knee length or maxi) with tights underneath if it's going to be cold in UK, ballet pumps and cardie. Easy to take off tights on flight/popping to the loo as soon as you land to get rid of them.

If you've got a baby with you, make sure you have an entire change of clothing for both of you to hand. Including underwear. You don't want to land cvoveted in puke. Yes, it happened to me. And my DH. And my mum. All on one flight, from the same baby, who was never sick normally.

Don't wear jeans as you will be a hot sweaty mess as a pp has said! Not all Greek airports have air con and they can be hot and can sometimes take a while for luggage to arrive or transfer coaches to fill up! I usually wear light cropped linen/cotton trousers and a light t shirt and flip flops. If weather is particularly bad in UK on departure then a hoody or cardigan to shove in a suitcase on arrival. Buy water UK side for arriving in case you're waiting a while - last year our cases were out quickly but waited an hour for others. Private transfer this year!

I have just come back from Kefalonia this afternoon. The outbound flight wasn't too bad but the flight home had aircon on full blast. Most of the passengers were cold. My son came out just for the weekend on a different airline and had the same experience.

Leggings, long-line tank top and cashmere wrap are perfect for travelling in

Dress with black leggings which you can take on or off depending on the temperature as it can get cold on the plane. And a cardi.
