Is this funeral appropriate?

It's a great aunt's funeral tomorrow and I'm going mostly for moral support for my mum and granny and two aunts, they were much closer to her than I was.
Trouble is my wardrobe has a very colourful pallet ie, basically zero black clothes. I had one smary black jumper that hasn't been worn since Christmas. So I've had to go and buy a few things today. I've bought a white linen shirt with a collar to under the jumper, a pair of black wedge brogues and a black pinstriped pencil skirt. Have a black bun decorator thingy for my hair (black net with a big rose/bow/ ribbon thing attached on a clip). Now I'm wondering if the pencil skirt is a bad move? It comes down to my knees and I'll be wearing black opaques with it.
Service is in a quite conservative CofE church in a naice part of town and will probably be full of quite elderly relatives that I don't know especially well.

Skirt and rest of your clothes sound just fine. How large/decorative is the hairpiece? I would wear a hat to any funeral, especially in a conservative church, as in my circles it would be expected. The last thing you want to do is draw attention to yourself or inadvertently offend by what someone might see as a lack of respect ( not in any way accusing you of this, but I know some people who would be surprised and upset if a woman didn't wear a hat to a funeral service, that's all!)

If it wouldn't be missed or remarked upon that you are wearing something that doesn't cover your head, that's fine! Smile

Thanks everyone. TheOrchidMoment It's pretty big and I think pretty decorative. I'm going to do a side bun with one of those bun donut things to bulk it out, it's a black net with little silver crystals on it, the top part is a big black rose made of ribbon with a black ribbon bow

Sorry, but I thing the hair accessory is a bit OTT. No-one has worn anything on their head at any funeral I have been to - C of E church or crematorium.

In my experience people just wear dark colours if they don't have any black. The last two funerals I have been to were in winter, and I have a black coat anyway, but I wore a bottle green dress underneath it.

It's not quite as big IRL as it looks in the photo, I have very dark hair so it's not so obvious either, at least the net part that goes over the bun isn't

I think all that sounds fine, I'd usually wear a hat to a funeral.
If you have a nice pair of earings, or a pretty scarf add them too to give the dark outfit a bit of a lift.

Whatever you wear, I'm sure your Mum will be so glad that you are there with her.

Yes got some tiny pearl earrings, the neckline is very high so I think a scarf would be lost in it

Pearl earrings would be just right.

Well that went as well as can be expected. Relatives obviously very upset but a really lovely service and a few drinks in a quiet beer garden in the sun after the wake. Exhausted now, takeaway food and bed for me now

Well done on getting through a difficult day, I'm sure your being with her helped your Mum a lot. Thanks
