Pandora jewellery is it overpriced?

No jewellery is 'worth' anything - 400% mark up in jewellers. Second hand values are often just scrap value.

Diamonds are actually worth very little. I took my jewellery to a very good pawn shop a couple of years ago - as an example I have a pair of quarter carat diamond earrings (so half carat in total) - flawless, lovely colour, cost £1200 about 16 years ago. Still on sale in most high street jewellers for similar price.

£80 they offered. They offered the guy in front of me with a £25k breitling - £4k as watches are more desirable

So buy something because you like it. Or buy second hand at auction (wonderful Art Deco jewellery) and get a cracking deal that will almost hold its value.

Most of Pandora isn't that expensive. A lot of it is silver and much less.

Some jewellery can appreciate, and some watches definitely can. Often depends of specific makes and models when it comes to watches.

Pandora was the thing to have amongst all the Mums at our school about 7 years ago but now I never see anyone wearing it.

And yet they had a queueing system outside the Pandora shop in town in the run up to Christmas where they were letting people in one at a time and those in the queue were waiting an hour or more. Madness for the admittedly pretty but overpriced charms.

I got a Pandora voucher for my birthday and bought a beautiful, sparkly ring for £60 yesterday. Looks much more expensive IMO! But it was slim pickings if you didn't want a charm.

Think DP was a little bit taken aback as it had a slight engagement-esqe vibe to it though

I think it's just right for what it is, price wise.

I'm not keen on Pandora. Went shopping yesterday & there was a huge queue for the shop, with ropes & guards. It's only deemed valuable because the company create so much hype around it.

Pandora is ridiculously overpriced. I make costume jewellery, which is what a lot of Pandora consists of and the basic components can cost pennies, or at the most a couple of pounds. That's buying the components wholesale so the suppliers I buy items from are making a profit and I have no problem with that as they are selling jewellery making pieces to me at a reasonable rate. Silver plate, base metal and most semi precious stones are very very cheap and companies such as Pandora, Swarovski and Thomas Sabo are making a fortune based on colossal mark-ups and terrific marketing. Then again I suppose that argument applies to most luxury items and all credit to them for being clever.

Pandora isn't silver plate though it's 925 sterling and the gold stuff is 14k (still a ridiculous price though)

Think most of sabo is 925 or gold plated 925 but haven't seen anyone wearing it in ages.

I can never get past with the Pandora Group a very good friend of mine who is on the marketing team of an international head office of Pandora, who when being treated for breast cancer, had to take the time for surgery and convalescence and later after a post year of cancer treatment double mastectomy, as holiday or unpaid leave as she had exceeded the sick pay allowance - 3 young children working mum too.

I used to watch her struggle to her car in a wig to drive to work so she would not lose her job as threatened by the company and vowed I'd never look at a pandora charm again

...when it came to months later when she was actually getting near to being better and wanting to go on holiday with her family they denied the holiday as it had all been used for her treatment

Dreadful way to behave in a female focused business from a company selling good luck and life charms.

I have to say that I find Pandora jewellery not very exciting, I've never understood why people are so keen on it - my local shopping centre also has queues snaking out of their front door! It's mad!

DW and DD are big fans. Most jewellery is over priced but as a buyer I think it offers decent value for money.

I think it's not very nice at all. Just paid £40 for a charm for my MIL who loves the stuff. I felt robbed.

Just my opinion thought. I'd rather put my money in the direction of local independent craft jewellery makers and get something more original.
