They have been there for a few months but have increased in number in the last couple of weeks and seem to be spreading up into my hair.

Does anyone know what these spots are on my scalp?

Sorry, should have said, they are mildly itchy. Moreso around my ears than the rest.

Possibly psoriasis?

I'd go for psoriasis. You could try shampoo like oilatum. A pharmacist could confirm it.

Thanks. Can psoriasis develop in adulthood? Ive never had it before.

I will see a pharmacist. I use tgel as my scalp is sensitive anyway. Never had a problem with tgel before but will try the oilatum.

My scalp psoriasis suddenly appeared when I was 25. A lot of the medicated shampoos (including t-gel) contain coal tar, which I am also allergic to - you might want to try one which doesn't have coal tar in case you've become sensitive to it (Vosene works for me).

Oh i didn't realise that about the coal tar. Or the sudden psoriasis. Thank you!

Have you got kids/work with kids? It's probably not nits, but those marks/sores are exactly where one of my kids gets them when they have lice.

If they have those marks around ears and base of hairline (this is were the lice hide), it's the first sign they have them but it's more of a bad reaction to them than a bite.

Hope it's not that and you get it sorted, they must be very sore?

Yes i have kids, didnt think of nits! They arent sore, just itchy.

I have some of the head lice spray treatment. (We've never had them so far but i keep it just incase) Should i give it a go on my hair?

How do you check your own hair for nits? Confused

Hmmm marking place, similar issue here, but got DH to check for biddies, he claims I'm clear.

Can you just start with a sensitive scalp? We did sleep in a hotel over the weekend - washing powder reaction???

I have no partner. Only the DCs. Wouldnt trust eldest to check properly. I'll try and get to pharmacy tomorrow and go from there.

You need to wash hair then leave loads of conditioner on whilst you comb through with a nit comb. Nits can't move when wet, and they get trapped in the comb.

Its an absolute waste of time checking dry hair.

Thanks eleven59. I'll do tomorrow when they go to school so i can take my time and do it properly.

If your kids don't have nits, it's very unlikely that you have but it is worth checking. I got a very irritated scalp when I tried Tressemme (not sure how to spell) shampoo and conditioner, if that helps!

They are bites .

Nit bites?

I googled last night and saw that tea tree is used to kill head lice and eggs and i have some so i applied it all over my scalp last night with cotton wool and left it overnight. It has definitely stopped the itching! But will wash hair soon and do a comb through with nit comb and see what comes out.

Possible it's psoriasis. U need to consult the doctor. I advise you to read more about it on uvb-lamps.com/ . Phototherapy is usually an effective treatment for psoriasis. Partial to full skin clearing occurs after an average of 20 clinic treatments. More severe psoriasis may require more treatments. I had proriasis (on my face) and I cured it at home.
