Definitely. Sounds lovely. Age and size irrelevant, I think.

I've never seen a saree that was anything less than elegant, and would agree with strongandlong that age and size are immaterial. Blue and silver sounds stunning. Enjoy the event!

Sounds lovely!

Would you wear it to a formal event where everyone was wearing a saree? If so, then it would absolutely be suitable for a black tie event.

(I used to work in event management and I used to love looking at the mix of outfits at the black tie events where there were people from different countries/heritages)

We went to a black tie awards ceremony at the Dorchester last year, two of my colleagues wore sarees and they looked amazing!

Mermaid - I'm with you. I absolutely love them and would love to wear one, but afraid to cause unintended offence. I often stand looking in the shop windows admiringly.

Beeny - there are Indian Lawyers too. Even in Britain Smile
Wear it with pride - you will look utterly gorgeous

My friend's daughter wore a sari to her Prom - she looked absolutely beautiful.

Beeny Just think - if you were in India, what would you wear? Whatever you would choose to wear there for such an event, you should also wear here.
Hope you have a wonderful evening Flowers

Hi, did you finally wear it? I am Nepali and am contemplating wearing a saree for a black tie christmas dinner with GPs. Looking for some advice. Thanks!

Sorry, I see I'm replying to an old thread. The sentiment stands. Sarees are so elegant.

It sounds gorgeous. A few years ago, we stayed at a hotel near Legoland. All the better to go a second day. There was some sort of evening 'do' on. Many, if not most of the women attending were wearing saris. It was probably the most elegant evening attire I have ever seen. A lot of the men were also wearing traditional type clothes.

Mutton dressed as lamb is a sexist and ageist comment

A saree will be fine
