I need a handbag - with a small budget

Please help me

It needs to be big enough to fit a small laptop and go over my shoulder so I can hold two hands at once.

I am not girlie, into flowers etc at all (my current bag is black and slightly goth). I don't know anything about 'names' so that doesn't worry me.

It is for work and weekends so needs to be hard wearing.

Not leather or plastic leather - I prefer cloth

My last handbag I bought online and it hasn't lasted, before that I bought a bag I liked from the disney store. Please help me get something practical and grown up.

Budget - up to about 50 pounds if it will last a few years.

Not the prettiest thing in the world but how about this

There are lots of cloth shopper/tote kind of bags that are very simple and chic but they often don't have zips. Sounds like you need something like a simple messenger bag. Also check out etsy, they have some great finds on there!

Thanks for the links

I thought messenger bags were for young men, so not very female - is this not the case?

Have a look at Kipling bags. Lots of shape and colour choices, but they fit your budget and fabric preferences.

No, messenger bags are for all! Messenger bags/satchels are definitely unisex, I got one a messengery type bag in topshop a few months ago.

Yy to Crumpler. I have the Private Surprise messenger bag medium (IIRC) in black. One of the strap holders tended to slip and needed a few stitches but apart from that it's been brilliant. Not sure it's in current range but the Proper Roady M is similar.
