brunette to blonde

I have natural mid/light brown hair going grey and tried a brown permanent shade on my hair but looks terrible. Left for a few months and now have horrible greys and regrowth issues - hair disaster indeed. So I want to change tack althogether and go dark blonde, is this possible at home? Can not get an app at my hairdresser and the colourest did say he wouldn't change my colour to blonde - not too sure why but did have my hair that colour for over 20 years and change to brunette in the last 5 years. Any advice before I hit Boots?

Don't do it wait for the hairdresser to put in a few highlights

I went from dark brown to blonde at home, all blended quite nicely using a home kit and being blonde doesn't show the grey regrowth so much either. I hate the word bronde (bloody Jlo & Loreal) but that's pretty much my colour now, a light brown at the ends and a natural dark blonde through the mid lengths. I like it anyway Grin

Stay away from those bronde kits. Heffalump - are you from L'Oreal? I would not dye brown hair blonde - try and grow out the colour and use a toner to hide the grey.

I had BLACK hair, dyed it for years, colourists wouldn't lighten it. When I turned 50, I got fed up with it and grew out the grey as much as possible, did colour b4 a few times, over a few months, but felt it was very ageing. I then found a salon that was willing to put blonde (8ish) through, and I love it! I am having it straightened every so often and I now have shoulder length blonde swishy hair. It is the opposite of ageing (younging?), I think my face can just about take it with my current wrinkle level.

Mine is mid/darkish brown IRL but very short at the moment.
I've been dyeing for years, mid brown bob (to hide the grey)

When it was cut, I went lighter (more chestnut than blonde)
Then a couple of months ago, I did a very light brown (it was a blonde but didn't lighten my hair as much as I hoped) then highlighlights.
I've over dyed blonde again but I'm going to have it cropped again (my hair is too wavy , I can't be bothered growing it and taming it TBH)

I would never have lightened my dyed hair though, this has all taken place on the new growth and there's very little overlap otherwise I think it would go a bit woolley.
