Does anyone fancy a quick shoe challenge?

I need shoes and I don't even know what I'm looking for.

I've been working from home for a couple of years and I'm about to hurl myself back into interviews and work, so I'm going to need some new shoes. This should be simple, but once I start throwing in my needs it gets a bit complicated, I get stressed by shopping, I look pathetically at Clarks and give up. I can't give up, I have an interview slightly panicky voice

The complication - I have very hypermobile feet, so I can't wear flats or heels. I tend to wear trousers - in summer I go for smart 3/4 black linen ones. Does anyone have any ideas? I have nothing to give back, I was last fashionable in 1985.

If you can't wear flats or heel, what can you wear? I'm assuming, with hypermobility, you need something that is laced or otherwise firmly attached to the feet?

What colour are you thinking of?

Would something like this work?

I am in no way fashionable, but I do get asked where my work shoes come from, nad have converted 2 very fashionable people to clarks!

I ALWAYS wear full length trousers. If you wear 3/4 length, does that mean no socks?

I assume by not flat and not heals, you need something with a decent sole, what is ever so slightly healed????? If not, can you post a link to something you can wear at the moment to help out?

I'd try on (all from clarks) the following:
not massivly smart, but OK under trousers
very boring
not convinced by elastic bit, but might be hidden
don't particually like the bow, but would buy if desperate
would need to see in real life

Things I imagine the fashionable ones at work would try:
fashionista 1 is about to go and buy her second pair of these. will they work with your hypermobility?
functional clasic, but I hate shoes that are that exposed over the top of me feet
probably wouldn't work with 3/4 length??

Any of those heading in the right direction? Anyone with fashion sense want to rule some out??!!

Thanks Slug - I know, it's ridiculous. I spend most of my walking time in something trainer-like (which means I can use my mountainous orthotic). The ones you posted are so pretty - if I get the job I'll have another look.

Addicted thanks for putting so much effort in Smile. I liked the 'Not Convinced' ones. That might be because they're the closest to what I understand (see above about trainers).

I've had a rummage through my shoe cupboard. There are a lot of trainers - nice ones, but still trainers. I have walking, running, long walking, etc., trainers, some nice boots (hopeless in the summer) and some sandally things that might work, but I've never worn any of them so it's pure guesswork.
