Clarks shoes- problem.

I bought some shoes from them (no longer have receipt though bought online so record will be there) and they are killing my feet.

They are a moccasin driving shoe style. There is stitching around the top of the shoe and after wearing them once I had terribly sore feet- the stitching is so hard that it was unbearable to wear them. I had worn them to try on at home first and they seemed fine.

On their website someone gives them a review saying the same thing- says the stitching is like knife cutting into their feet- and Clarks have responded with a kind of ' all feet are different, sorry to hear this we can't do anything.'

Would it be worth writing to them to complain?

The leather is beautifully soft but the stitching at the outside edge- just above your little toe- is complete agony. I wore them once to go to the supermarket - drove there and back so no real walking- and by the time I got home I had pins and needles and sharp pains in my feet and legs as the stitching was pressing- I assume- on some nerves.
It's like walking on nails but the nails are digging into the top of your feet not the soles!
I love them- they are nice shoes- but unwearable.

I will write. Thanks.

My Vans were like that. The inner stitching rubbed the top of my toes so badly that even wearing socks with plasters underneath my feet would bleed. Vans couldn't offer me any advice either.

If you are forced to keep them, try putting them in the washing machine. Ok, granted they're not trainers, but you can't wear them if they shred your feet.

i'd try taking them back to a Clarks shop - I've taken shoes back to them after wearing and they have been pretty good - at least they might give you a voucher or offer an exchange.

I had a problem, not the same, but something I wasn't happy with, I contacted Customer Services and they were very good.

I had this with some Clarke - the stitching was agony to the point it cut off the circulation off to both my big toes and the tops were numb for weeks ! I had a pair exactly the same in the same size previously and had had no problems ! Watching with regards as what to do! I just went back to wearing the old pair .

Update- spoke to customer services who suggested I returned to store or by mail to them- will do latter as don't want to discuss all over again in store. I think we are looking at a refund or credit note- first would be better but 2nd ok as I can always buy some boots or something later. They said they will look at them to see if there is a 'fault'- well, I'd not call it a fault as such but fingers crossed.
