Basic cardigans

Might be a style faux pas but I care not.
I want to buy some basic plain v neck cardigans. In an ideal world I would like some in a variety of colours.
I have some that I bought from H&M a few years ago but they are getting a bit worn out.
I've not looked all that hard tbh. Any ideas ladies?

I've been trying to do exactly this for the last few weeks! I've had a couple from Woolovers but they are quite pricey and not that great. I'm currently in a red herring navy cardi from Debenhams and I have a pale green one too which I like - got them last year so don't know of they have them this year.
I would like a few in different colours like you, plain basic and in a variety of colours - not too much of an ask is it?!

It shouldn't be should it?
The ones from H&M were nice enough quality for about £15 each and came in about 6 colours. That's all I want.
I wear a lot of highly patterned dresses and at this time of year I just need a plain cardi.

I came on to say H&M are my cardi saviours! I've got their basics cardis in about 5 colours - they're great for work. I know they fall apart quickly but frankly they're cheap enough not to worry me!

Do they still do them? I couldn't see them online.

My Zara cardigans which I bought in 2010 survived weekly machine washing for three years. They're now still decent-looking, just rarely used because I've stopped wearing cardigans so much. Mango does good cardigans, too.

Yep! Bought a new black one last week because I left mine somewhere or other... IME the H&M site is awful - just pop into the shop, they're by the other plain bits, t shirts and the like

I will brave it next weekend Scribble. Thank you.
I have an H&M near here but no Uniqlo, Mango or Zara.

I've just looked at Uniqlo online. Perfect, thank you.

And Uniqlo do good long sleeve tops for work. Brilliant now that Gap have gone to shit.
How are their sizes?

H&M. I have cardigans from there that I bought about 5 years ago that are still going strong.

Pipbin - they sometimes go up to XXL, probably UK18. I'm UK12/14 (more 14 in tops), I wear M.

Thanks. Ame.
I went to japan a few years ago. The clothes shops there sell s/m/l. Large was about a 12. There was then one shop in Tokyo that sold larger clothes.
I wear a about a 16 in tops so a L or XL might do.

For the basic extra-fine merino the L or XL should be fine, sometimes the designer ranges (eg Ines de la Fressange) are cut a bit narrower. I'm 14-16 (depending on shop) on top and find a L v comfortable

pipbin in UNIQLO I wear a L comfortably or an XL if I want a slouchier look. I am a 14 sometimes 16 on top

You're welcome, Pipbin. UNIQLO seems generously sized compared to the usual Japanese/Asian brands. :)

I have got basic plain cardi's from Matalan of all places. They are starting to get worn out, so need to look for more. Next do them too.
