What shall I do with my hair?

OK, I'm seeing my hairdresser next weekend, for a trim/general tidy up, and I want to plan what I want doing for my next appointment, colour-wise.

I want to go lighter, but I'm a bit rubbish at knowing what suits my skin tone, hair etc.

I was thinking of something with more blonde tones, but maybe more red might be better? I want a definite change from what I've got now, that's about all I do know. Examples of colours would be really helpful, too :)

I think some caramel/copper coloured lowlights. If you go lighter gradually you can see if it suits you. Avoid those awful looking thick stripes too.
