What is the sizing like in H and M? (Kids)

Hi everyone.

I want to get a few bits for my 2.8 year old DD from H and M. We don't have one round here so will have to order them online and could do without the hassle of having to send everything back.

Their sizing is a bit odd. Most stuff goes from 1.5-2 to 2-4. Normally tops wise I would get my dd 2-3 and they would fit but have room to grow as well. She wears 18-24 month old bottoms. She is quite small so i can imagine something that would fit a 4 year old would bury her. But I don't want to get 1.5-2 in case its on the small size.

I've looked at their size guide but it doesn't have any info on size 2-4.

Anyone know how it compares to Next, asda etc? Thanks.

I think it's on the small side - 5 year old DD wears 6-8 years, but she is tall for her age.

My DD is just 3 and is on the 50th centile and is still wearing the 2-4 stretchy tops, but they're on the small side after a few washes. I just bought her a lovely cotton dress in age 3-4 but it already seems a bit tight so I'm going to buy it in the size up.

I agree with the pp that their sizing is on the smaller side generally.

I'd say they are quite large for bottoms small for tops. My small 3yo is growing out of the 2-4 hoodies.

Thanks that's really helpful.
DD is 3 in July and on the 25th centile (ish) so I'll get the 2-4. Thanks Smile

DD is just 3 and somewhere between the 9th and 25th centile and the 2-4's fit her nicely, I was surprised because the 2-3 coat she has from there is made for someone much bigger. She's very skinny hipped and usually 2-3 trousers bury her but the 2-4 from h&m are fine.

Some of their trousers and jeans they do in normal sizes age 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 etc. I find for DD they swamp her on the waist but fit in length when I buy the size for her age (9th centile) She is a skinny little thing and not very tall though so if you have an average build child I would size up.

We are currently at that awkward in between size for tops 2-4 are getting a bit small looking but 4-6 far to big.

Weirdly I've found the opposite, My ds is 3 in June and still doesn't fit into the 2-4 clothes from h&m I got him last year.

Most of the trousers I've found on the small size and the tops on the large side, think you just have to keep trying to find some that fit - Another good tip though is to only order off the sale site, the full price stuff is only on the full price section for around 2 weeks then most of it goes into the sale.
