Hayulp! Need a dress for a black tie do that I can also wear to a wedding reception

I'm going to a black tie dinner in April and a wedding reception (not the ceremony Shock Wink) in May. I need a frock that'll work for both - so preferably not black. I'm guessing that means some sort of cocktail dress.

I've looked all over the place online and can't find anything dressy enough, or that doesn't look bridesmaidy (or worse, mother of the bride Shock).

I'm 36, about 5'7, size 10-12. Big norks and a bit of a tummy from two massive babies. But skinny arms and legs.

Budget up to £150.

Any suggestions (even if it's just where to look) appreciated.

Why not just a plain sheeth type one?

Maybe. Not seen any I like, though.

Navy could work

something like this?

Yeah, I was thinking navy. I actually really like this apart from the hideously unflattering ruching round the middle that makes it look like it's ridden up Hmm

this would be great for both occasions- with a blazer for a wedding, and without for the black tie do.

Thanks ladies. I like the blush Phase Eight one, and your first one, tethers.

I've just ordered five Shock dresses on ASOS. This is my fave but you never know with ASOS quality-wise. But makes sense to only spend 40-odd quid seeing as I never really go anywhere posh enough for a party dress :(

I think I'd need some sort of jacket for the wedding, though.
