5-Day Makeover Plan

WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/09/2014 10:25

Anyone fancy joining me? I feel HIDEOUS and want to tackle it. I've got no evening plans this week so I'm going to follow a home-made makeover plan to try to look and feel better by Saturday, even if it's just purely psychological and I look exactly the same to everyone else.

I have 20lbs weight to lose which will be a longer-term thing. This week is just to kickstart me, and stop me feeling so depressed and fugly. When I feel better, I naturally eat better and feel more positive. This is just to kickstart that.

The plan:
Follow a diet. Any diet allowed. Anything to lose 3-5lbs.
Every day, do 45 minutes' exercise.
Every night, go to bed at 10pm.
Every day, do one or more 15-minute makeover treatment from the list below.
Every day, drink 8 glasses of water.
Every day, whiten teeth.
Book a couple of bigger treatments, like dentist, facial, massage, etc.

Makeover list:
Dye eyelashes/brows
Do pore strip
Deep-condition hair
Facepack
Body exfoliation
Manicure
Pedicure
Fake tan
Sort out wardrobe - get autumn clothes ready
Chuck/Ebay/give away things I never wear
Wash make-up brushes
Sort out make-up bag, and piles of beauty stuff I've bought but never used
Watch beauty tutorials on YouTube
Wear moisturiser underneath gloves/socks in bed
Sort underwear into matching sets, ditch the grey shiat
Sort workout gear out, so I actually have nice things to wear to the gym
Have a sauna/steam at the gym
Do workout from Workouts App

If you have any other ideas for makeover treatments, please add below!

Would live others to join me. Otherwise I'll carry on, bravely alone Wink, and use this thread for Accountability.

The other rule is: this must be done without spending money! It's to encourage me/us to USE THE THINGS WE'VE ALREADY BOUGHT. I thought I'd run out of face-wash but just found a new, unused tube of a posh one in my shower basket!

I'm dyeing my eyelashes as I type, and used a lot of hair-treatment stuff I'd had sitting in the bathroom forever. I already feel a bit more positive.

Anyone else fancy doing this?

I've just had a Tesco Slimfast-type milkshake thing. I'm not a fan of these at ALL but I bought them a few weeks ago and might as well use them up. I've also put body lotion on (normally can't be arsed, plus I'm heavy at the moment so it's a big job covering all this with lotion) and make-up, and a Crest Whitestrip. I also trimmed my newly dyed brows. I have to trim them otherwise they crawl like ivy up my forehead. Hmm (I realise how envious you all must be of my beauty - sorry.)

right, I have just started my 7 day quick loss diet. Have washed out the coconut oil from my hair and am off to do an aspirin mask in a minute. DH is away for 2 weeks and I want a new shiny me when he returns.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/09/2014 17:23

Awesome!! Great to have you here on your Shiny Quest, Eccles! :)

What's an aspirin mask? How do you do it and what does it do? I'm intrigued!

I caught sight of myself in a mirror earlier and felt a bit "bleurgh". It's tempting to chuck away all my frumpy/slobby clothes so I can never actually look scruffy... But they're so comfy....

OP posts:
WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/09/2014 17:25

Funny how you said you're doing this while your DH is away. I'm doing it this week because I won't be seeing my fiancé till Saturday. It's easier to focus on beauty stuff and eating sod-all when there isn't a man around to tell me I look fine as I am and to come here and eat this massive dinner he just fried.

ChablisChic · 29/09/2014 17:29

Hi, can I join you please? I am going away for a few days next week to celebrate a significant birthday and am determined to have a healthy, low-carb, alcohol free week with lots of exercise so I feel my best when I leave. I've let a few pounds creep on over the course of the year, and I want them gone!

I also need to sort my housework hands and summer sandal feet, as well as all the usual epilating, plucking etc etc.

I've eaten sensibly so far today, and have a healthy dinner planned. I'm out at choir tonight so I won't be drinking, so that's a good start.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/09/2014 17:32

Of course you can join! How lovely!

What will you do with your feet? I did Footner and it's AMAZING but of course, if you did it now you'd be peeling next week. Let me know any footy beautifying secrets you have to share!

I forgot epilating... I have a bit of a rainforest to hack back down below... Blush

I'm going to do 30 minutes on my sadly abandoned rowing machine now, then a 15-min Bingo Wings Blaster DVD tonight... I'm so unfit. Just the thought of walking the 12" to my rowing machine has exhausted me...

Hi I totally feel the same since having my DD 3 months ago. I can't quite fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes and I have no time for myself.

I used to always have my eyebrows done, fake tan on, highlights done, teeth whitened etc.

Now I'm living in gym clothes, flip flops, hair in a bun and my teeth are not looking great (due to how much coffee I'm drinking Confused). I never wear make up anymore or have my nails painted.

I need to give myself a kick up the bum, eat less crap and DRINK MORE WATER!!!

I just don't feel like me Sad Will try and think of some goals for myself and post back later.

SuperGlue · 29/09/2014 17:43

Me! I'm in! I have slowly gained about a stone over the past year, a little bit her and a little bit there and it has ALL gone on around my middle. I am apple shaped now and I don't like it, plus I am nervous of the long term health implications of carrying weight there.

So....I have asked dh just today to move my exercise bike to a position where I can use it again having abandoned it for a year or more. I am about to head up there to cycle for 20mins whilst listening to and singing along to Paolo Nutini!

I am 44 and need to get my act together. I got my hair cut & coloured last week so that is ok and I got a new dress and shoes at the weekend for a weekend away coming up so ideally would like to shift 5-7lbs by then so I can feel really good in it.

I have done the food shopping today and have some healthy options mapped out for myself and no alcohol during the week.

Good luck to us all - I'm off to cycle!

ChablisChic · 29/09/2014 17:44

My feet aren't horrendous, as I do try to keep them in good shape, but I have areas of hard skin, so I use a footfile before I shower, then use Flexitol morning and evening (on the advice of a chiropodist, so I think it is the best thing to use). A few days of that should sort the skin out, then a pedicure to prettify my nails, which I think I'll do at the weekend.

Clackety · 29/09/2014 19:40

I'm in! Will come back with a list but would love tips on not drinking alcohol in the week (white wine habit)

Anyone found any good nonalcoholic substitutes?

WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/09/2014 19:59

Chocolatdonut -- I gave up on beauty treatments immediately after each child was born. It's normal! BUT what I have since learned is that beauty treatments are REALLY QUICK. Most of them take 10-15 minutes max. So really, they are possible to schedule into even the most hectic day.

And we don't do them for anyone else's benefit but our own. It's just so much LOVELIER to look in the mirror after doing something positive and beautifying. Even (like I said in the OP) if nobody else notices. :)

What treatments have you got in the bathroom? Hair-treatment? Facepack?

I know sugar, normal granulated sugar, makes a great DIY body scrub so I might do that in the shower later before I whack on some fake tan.

OP posts:
WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/09/2014 20:01

When I say beauty treatments are quick, obv I mean the at-home ones from Boots. Not salon ones. :) Although spraying some eucalyptus room-spray round the bathroom and rolling your towels up into sausages CAN make your own bathroom feel spa-like. Ish. A bit..

WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/09/2014 20:06

Superglue - yay on the hair, dress and shoes! And the cycling. :) All so positive and fab.

Chablischic - what's Flexitol?

Clackety - I've had to give up wine because it makes me psychotic drunk very quickly. I've swapped it for vodka and diet tonic when I'm out. Fewer calories and not nearly as strong. But wine at home is nice... Could you just try spritzers? Or posh sparkling water with lime and ice? God, even I type that I know it's no substitute. Fuck it - just drink two bottles of wine at a time so you'll be sure to vomit it all back up. Zero cals!

I might watch some YouTube beauty vids in bed tonight. Remember when we were 15 and used to stare in the mirror for WEEKS?! These days, I barely glance so it's no surprise that random chin hairs, pores like Moon craters and 5' long eyebrows are popping up all over the place. When I was young, I used to inspect my pores before bed every night, to check for blackheads. These days, I barely recognise myself in anything shiny.

I need ideas on make up and hairstyles.

I'm thinking this is more of a beauty-treatment project than a diet project. At least initially. Then the idea is that we feel SO GORGEOUS, we stop eating crap. :)

I love bacon crisps. I'd never deny anyone those.

But YES to planning clothes the night before! I always used to do that, but had completely forgotten. Thank you! It really makes a difference in the morning.

Awesome.

I'm back...and happy to report that I did some cycling! Two songs worth but it is a start and I will build it up song by song Grin

I also resisted snaffling some of dd's oven chips earlier and am on here to distract for the snacking witching hour of doom. Dh is just home and in the shower and dinner is 5 mins from being ready and this is when I would most likely grab a handful of nuts and a glass of wine, but not tonight...[polishes halo]

I am working from home tomorrow so no need to plan outfit but will do from now on as that really helps.

Tomorrow I will cycle again. Do an exfoliating face mask and slap on some fake tan on arms, neck and chest so I don't look so pasty. I am meeting an old friend for lunch after work so might go the whole hog and defuzz the legs and pits and lash on some nail varnish!

Patrickstarisabadbellend · 29/09/2014 21:31

Can I join? I'm a mess

WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/09/2014 23:59

Superglue that's all awesome! I completely empathise with "the snacking hour of doom". After 9pm, I turn into a human Hoover.

Patrick - of course you can! What's pissing you off, in particular? Hair, clothes, skin?

Morning all. what Flexitol does a range of lotions and potions, mainly for feet I think, but I use the heel balm - when I remember or can be bothered , which is, of course, the problem isn't it.

So, as well as my religious use of Flexitol this week, I will remember to body brush before my shower every morning, and apply body lotion all over, not just slap a bit on my shins.

I have a yoga class this morning, which always makes me feel lovely and positive, so it should be a good day. When I come back I will do my eyebrows and sit under a good light to spot those random chin hairs!

Clackety · 30/09/2014 08:45

My main problem is routine. I have a blitz and scrub and defuzz everything and two weeks later I'm back to looking shit.

Spent last night chucking out my crappy clothes so now it's impossible for me to dress badly.

Ordered the stylebook app and am uploadingpics of my clothes in an effort to keep me on track..

Today a facial, manicure and pedicure at home are my goals.

SuperGlue · 30/09/2014 12:29

Hello all, I am working from home today, crunching numbers which is not my area and always stresses me out a bit. But is has to get done. I am about half way through now so not too bad I suppose.

I am not even dressed though, sitting here in pj bottoms, an old t-shirt and one of dh's ancient sweatshirts - gorgeous!

I have promised myself that I will get the work done and have a shower and get dressed properly before dd gets home from school at 3pm.

I am sticking to the healthy eating too which always makes me feel better and more in control. clackety well done on throwing out the old clothes, I REALLY need to do that. I read on another thread that someone was saying that on days at home they wear all their mistake clothes. I loved that idea as I have lots of things, bought on a whim, that i am not crazy about for work / going out but would be fine for the house / working from home and a LOT more presentable that my usual ancient trackkie bottoms or pjs.

I am going to de-fuzz and put some fake tan on tonight and sort out my work clothes for tomorrow morning.

And drink more water......
