If a size 16 is a bit tight and a size 18 too lose, where would you buy your trousers?

That's it really. I am finding a 16 a bit tight (yes I should lose weight but realistically I just need some clothes for my holidays). Size 18's though are too loose, and whereas you can get away with this for tops/dresses you can't with trousers. Maybe if they had a bit of stretch in them? I am looking for fairly fitted capri type trousers, or even straight leg jeans, in white black or navy. Or all three of those colours. Not jeggings though, I look hideous in them. Thanks!

Try Sainsburys. They have a good selection in the bigger stores.I'd try a 14 first as their sizing is huge.Have a lovely holiday.

Size 16 Wallis and Next
Size 18 H&M

I find Next all over the place re sizing, one size 16 won't even do up, a different style falls down! M&S always seem consistent and cut quite generously.

Where have you been finding this? I find Wallis a good half size up from next and m&s, for example.

Ah for jeans and trousers I always find Next generous. Wallis stupidly generous, it depends how tight the 16 is Grin

Hmm, thanks maybe I am actually fatter than I thought. I find size 16 in Next too snug. Same with M&S. But 18's are too big in the thighs and the waist (but fit my bum). I think I am an hourglass shape so basically I need an 18 but one that really goes in at the waist. I got some Phase 8 trousers in an 18 and thought they were great when I tried them on but wore a pair today and they were too big, they kept falling down (a pity because I can't take them back now and they were expensive). I know I could have things altered but its costly and I don't have time. I'll try Gap and Wallis. Thanks.

Gap for sure. I love gap. Love buying at least one size smaller. Not that I'm vain or anything Blush

Bugger i am fat, size 16 gap skinny minis are too small. I am getting a bit desperate as going on hols Monday. Really could do with some trousers. I wanted ones i can wear in the evening or for smarter days. I am trying to avoid the baggy cropped linen look. I can try a bigger size in gap but i think its the cut. Any more ideas pretty please? I need an 18 but for someone with a small waist, m and s 18 is too baggy. Thanks.

Sounds like you need a skirt with an elasticated waist. If time is getting short you need to get to a shopping centre and just try stuff on rather than order online.

Last minute dash to the shops tomorrow just trying to save time! I found my sewing machine and took in the phase 8 ones they are wearable now. Will try Wallis as well. Thanks.

Yes Gretchen I totally agree but that's unlikely to make a difference between now and 6.15 on Monday when I board a plane to Malaga.
