Can I wear a play suit with heels to an evening wedding reception or is it not smart enough/inappropriate?

My best friend wore a playsuit to my wedding. She looked bloody marvellous, so I'd say it was fine!

I think it's ok, if it's appropriately dressy. School gate style blogger (I know not everyone on here likes her, but...) recently posted herself at a wedding in a black jumpsuit.

The jumpsuit in thinking of is 'shorts' style. Covered up top but thigh skimming.
I'm just attending the evening reception. It's either that or a dress!

I wouldn't go for shorts unless you have such stunning legs that frankly it doesn't matter what you wear as no one will be looking at that Wink

I would be worried I'd be seen as trying to upstage the bride by showing miles of leg & arse. My area is quite conservative so a playsuit would raise a few eyebrows amongst the women but lots of leery oggles from the men!

If it's the kind of event where others will be wearing short dresses, I'd say it was fine. (After all, that's what a playsuit often looks like from a distance.)

I wouldn't but it really depends on what sort of wedding it will be - some are still quite formal even in the evening, others more relaxed throughout.

Thanks all. It's a short floaty playsuit. I'm unsure too. The bride and groom are late 20s and I suspect a lot of guests will be around that age.
I just wanted to wear something different to a dress. Smile

Long elegant jumpsuit?

If it's not the actually wedding and just the evening do I think it is fine. Can you link to it or something similar?

Are you cara delavigne or Edie Campbell? If not, then no. Elegant jumpsuit, would be fine.

No not a short floaty playsuit, that sounds like something for holidays. Long leg one like those Msvenus has posted would be OK.

Agree, short floaty play suit is too casual. If it was a long, elegant jumpsuit I would be all in favour - I think they look amazing (I am sadly too pear shaped and short of leg to ever carry this look off, so I think anyone who can should be legally obliged to!)

Miss selfridge have got lovely skort play suits in gorgeous summery colours, I've got a wedding reception in 3 weeks and I'm going to get a play suit too

Thigh skimming, def not in my getting old mind but then I don't like to see dresses that barely cover the bum and tops that barely hold in breasts. Less is more. Be classy not cheap. In my none existent fashion training short skirts and the like with high heels can be a bit tarty. Flat shoes somehow don't seem so bad.

What Msvenus has posted are jumpsuits rather than playsuits - I think it sounds ok - do you hae a similar picture we could see?

A couple of girls were wearing play suits at a wedding I was at earlier this month. They looked great, but were both slim with great legs.

Prob a bit too casual. I'm a size 6 and 5ft 6.
Would wear with heels and a clutch. It's a country wedding and we're just going to the evening event.
I'd never wear it if we going to a day wedding! But not sure if it's ok for evening. Failing which I'll wear a dress Smile
