DSD has asked for ideas and me being useless at clothes I have no fecking clue where to look (online, she means)

Size 16 if that helps.

Any suggestions of websites please!

What's her usual style? Body shape, height & colouring? Budget?

Sexy Her (ignore the awful name) are excellent for dresses and very good value for money. You do have to size up though.

DH is in the RAF and I use them when we go to balls, I've not been disappointed yet. I did have a problem with a dress once when it didn't fit, but they are at the end of a phone in the UK and sorted it quickly, arranged for another to be sent and sorted the return.

Budget I'd say around £100

Size 16, apple. About 5'6, dark hair.

Wouldn't want anything floor length, more into skater dress type stuff really. Quite quirky in style generally, so not necessarily looking at something marketed as a prom dress IYSWIM? But still special.

God knows why she's asked me, I haven't a clue :o

IamI what do you mean size up, is that like you would need an 18 if you're normally a 16?

Maybe something like this? It needs a petticoat and maybe a belt though

this is utterly fab but over budget by the time it's got it's petticoat.

Warehouse has some lovely dresses at the moment, lots of skater dress styles.

My DD is looking for a dress for her prom too but she doesn't want what i think of as a prom dress. It is a masquerade theme so she wants a fancy mask and a plainish short black dress.

It is a nightmare trying to find something. Zara has some once ones and we have ordered some from ASOS to try. She loves the all Saints ones but they are eyewateringly expensive!

I don't think i have been any help to you but i feel your pain!

Mrslettuce I know she has looked at the Mango site and has rejected all the dresses! She is mighty fussy.

Yes, Fuzz, she'd have to buy an 18 rather than a 16. They are cut quite small.

DD just got a maxi dress out of new look they also do skater style promo dresses (my dd lives in skater style dresses). She wore nice pair of killer heels and clutch bag.

Alot of the girls seem to go with maxi style dresses rather than the toilet puffy doll type prom dresses.

The Eliza J one is gorgeous and would look fab on a curvy girl.
