Help with body shape?

Can someone help me with my type, please?

I think I'm a pear, as I have big hips an fairly big bum, a defined waist, and quite narrow shoulders. However, I have huge knockers. 36H last time I was measured.

Am I a pear? I'm pretty sure I'm not hourglass

Measure your bust, waist and hips.
If bust and hips are similar and waist smaller then you're hour glass.
Bigger hips, medium waist smaller bust is pear shape.

Ok, my bust is 38, waist 32 and hips 42, does this make me pear?

Is that your overbust? at a 36H you shouldn't measure 38!

Thank you jokers Smile

And statisticallychallenged it is the widest part u have measured. Is this right? My last bras were bought after my 17 month old was born. So they don't fit well now, I'm ashamed to say. I need to buy more now I'm not bfing.

It does seem rather odd, sorry if I offended you.

The best way to actually "measure" for bras is to take the overbust measure bending at 90 degrees, bra off. Each inch of difference between the measurements is a cup size.

So, someone who was a 36H would measure, roughly, 36 underbust and about 47 dangling. It's not unusual for your standing up in a bra overbust measurement to be a bit smaller than this (even in a well fitting bra) as they do adjust your shape somewhat. But, to give you a rough idea; I wear a 30H/HH ish. I measure about 30" underbust, and dangling I'm about 42". Upright, I'm about 40". So a bit smaller than the official measurement for a 30HH but not by very much.

I don't think someone who is a true 36H should measure 38" upright.

Can you measure yourself as I described and post your measurements and I'll give you an idea of what size to try?

Sounds pear, however the bust size sounds wrong.Although, with narrow shoulders and wide hips you couldn't be hourglass if the bust increases as shoulders should be in line with the hips (and it's a 12 for classic 10 for more modern inch difference between waist and hips and waist and bust, for those who wonder,it's not just a case of 'smaller')

Bloody hell, it's so confusing. No wonder I wear shite! I'll measure in the morning, as you've described, and post. Thanks for this.

OP It's tricky isn't it?

I always thought I was a 'pear' but I think I was actually just too skinny! I have wide hips and a fairly big bum too, a smaller waist but my shoulders are the same width as my hips. It was only because I had very small boobs when I was superskinny, that I thought/was told I was pear.

Now, I no longer fit the 'ideal' of being skinny and am carrying a bit more weight, but I just seem to 'fit' myself better and I'd say I'm more hourglass.

My measurements are 38, 30, 40 (or thereabouts). My 38 equates to 32F/34E depending on shop.

I'm similar, FolkGirl. My shoulders and hips are more or less in line and my waist is about 10 inches smaller but my hips are bigger than my boobs. Some clothes e.g. skinny jeans make me look very pear shaped yet in a pencil skirt and V-neck I look more like an hourglass. The right bra definitely helps! I doubt whether any of us are a standard shape.
