What to buy at Sephora

I'm off to Vegas next month & there's a big Sephora next to our hotel. What should I buy there that I can't easily get in this country? Are there any brands of make-up or skin care that I should look out for?

Oh I adore Sephora! I stock up when I am in France. The shops stock stuff you would find here but Sephora's own products are amazing - brilliant nail polishes, eye colours, eyeliners (the smartliner is incredible), mascaras. It is a veritable candy store!

There was a Sephora in London but apparently Brits don't like the way the stores are laid out Hmm

I don't understand why Sephora has not opened in the British Isles

They were in the UK, there used to be one in Watford, but they pulled out of the UK market a few years ago for some reason. Maybe Boots was filling the market too well?

Their own brand vanilla perfume is the nicest scent ever. My credit card gets battered every time I go to Spain or France.

Perricone MD skincare (they do a trial set with $227 worth of skin power treatments for $90), just finished mine, amazing stuff. Also Sephora's Formula X nail polish, Glam Glow skin treatments and the big name perfumes in mini 1/3 oz rollerball sizes, perfect for handbags. All the usual brands (Caudalie, Urban Decay, Josie Maran, Laura Mercier ...) are there too - can you tell I live in in the USA within walking distance of Sephora?!

Another Sephora fan here.Grin I second the nail varnish - typing carefully at the moment as have just applied some of their varnish! Lots of fab colours. I also like the gel effect top coat.

Thanks ladies. I will definitely think about the skin care set, my face is in a state at the moment.
I didn't know they had their own brand. I'll definitely stock up. Smile

Omg I love sephora

It's like a toy shop, went to New York last year and was in their one about 2 hours just trying stuff out (poor dh)

But tbh no idea what to say to buy as I didn't buy anything Grin

I like buying the supporting beauty items - like lovely makeup bags, mirrors and a makeup case.
There are lots of tantalizing minis of beauty products near the checkout.

It's faintly ridiculous how excited I am about going to a shop. I've told DH he'll have to stay in the casino while I go in otherwise he'll start huffing at me after 5 minutes. I saw the shop when we were there last year but didn't go in. A terrible omission Shock

The Sephora brand products aren't as big in the US stores (or quite as good value comparatively) as they are in France in my experience. There are some brands they stock in France that they don't in US. Also the loyalty card is different.

Everything is generally much cheaper but more so Clinique/Lauder/Bobbi Brown etc than French brands like Lancôme. Benefit great value there.

But the best value at Sephora are the sets. Eg a foundation set with 6 products for the price of two, bronzer sets, mascara samplers. The fragrance sampler is a good idea because you get loads of miniatures with a voucher for your favourite full size. Most of these sets you won't find anywhere else.

But I would also suggest you take a cab to the Premium Outlets and go to the Cosmetics Company store where you will find some great bargains on Estée Lauder, MAC, Clinique, Bobbi Brown. It's a random selection but they have some good offers. There's usually a shop selling Lancôme and associated brands but not as great.

DH will sulk but it will be worth it.
