Do any if you shorties (I'm 5ft 1 and fairly petite) ever dabble in wearing teen clothing? Just wondering.

I'm not that small (5'6" and a size 10) but I have quite a few things from Boden's Johnnie B teenage range.

I am 5'8" and size 12. I have some Roxy teen cords which fit perfectly and I love.

I'm 5'9 and have a pair of grey tweed shorts from the tommy hilifiger children's range! they are age 15 or 16 iirc. i'm a UK6-8 usually, depending on shop. I tried a few boden johnnie b dresses on last year and the 16 yrs was way too big but the shape all wrong on me.

I'm 5'8 and an 8 top, 10 bottom. I've actually got lots of things from kids/teen ranges. Trousers do tend to be too short but shorts, tops/tshirts, dresses, cardigans are generally fine. I've had stuff from m and s, next, johnnie b, zara kids, gap kids. Lots of places actually. The biggest size I sometimes too big Hmm

I have some items which are teens sizes. The label doesn't matter - if you love it and it fits then buy it Smile

I'm 5ft nothing and wear my ds's hoodies that he's grown out of and his old pjs too.

All the time. But only on my days off - I work with children and ended up in the same t-shirt as a student once!

Yes, lots. 5 foot 1 and adult size 8, which equates to age 13 in Gap Kids and Next Kids. Have also found nice stuff in H & M.

Oh glad to see others do this. I am 5'7 and got in such a huff about vanity sizing in Gap the other day I ended up with some teen/kids trousers in Gap. They're to even too short. Will definitely consider some more.

Lol at Hugo! Thanks sicaq for those 'equivalent' sizes (sounds like we are about the same size), that's really handy!

Thanks everyone else for your reassurance that the idea of wearing kids clothes is not too weird or thrifty!

Nothing wrong with thrifty.
When I was a student children's lace up black boots £12
Adult boots £24, you can guess which I lived in for the next three years.

And since adults trainers are often pink, blue kids ones are actually improvement

5ft size 6. The last time I tried a child's skirt which was decades ago, I could not get it over my hips. Now I am in my forties, the style is just wrong.

Am size 8 on top,10 on bottom. 5'2". Buy a bit from M&S, GAp, asda, H&M kids stuff.

How does the Jonnie b stuff size?

You don't pay VAT on children's clothing, is my understanding. I have a cotton blouse from Zara girls, but they have changed the sizing and now I can't fit into their newer stuff. Not pleased.

I'm 5ft 1 and size 10 but I find a lot of kids' jeans/trousers etc too long! Whereas a lot of tops are too short in the sleeve.....but sometimes there's a gem to be had

I buy kids stuff sometimes.

I find trousers a bit short sometimes, but have tops and hoodies.

I have about half a dozen Animal hoodies which are all teen sizes - adult sale price was £36, teen - £12

I'm also Miss Average (5'6" and a size 10-12) and have lots from Johnnie B, although mainly plain tops and PJ bottoms. A few knits and hoodies too.

Sizing-wise, it is roughly as follows, but this can vary by item so read the reviews before buying:

13-14 - approx UK8
15-16 - UK10
16+ - UK12

I get kids stuff from charity shops (super stingy, meGrin)
5'0", size 6-8. Sometimes I wear hand-me-ups from my DCs too.

at my dd's play last week, several of the 8yr old girls were wearing primark ladies size 6 t-shirts as they had to wear green t-shirts and it was really hard to find any. I was shocked when my friend who's dd is quite small said it was an adults 6, it certainly wasn't big on her. So if an adult size 6 fits a small 8yr old then I can see an adult size 8/10 fitting into teen clothing. the only thing is aren't the styles often wrong and childish, that's why teens want to wear adult clothing as teen clothing is too young?

I had to get DS a Primark size 6 ladies top as he needed a plain long sleeve black top for Gang Show last year. He was 11 but the size of an 8yo. After the show I commandeered it, it fits me really nicely Smile

I am about a size 14, I have some of the Johnnie B things in the largest size (a hoodie, a cardigan) which fit fine; DH who is over 6 ft and broad shouldered lives in a couple of Johnnie B lads' plaid shirts I bought as I knew he would particularly like the style (he seems to like them very much and was only slightly embarrassed that one of the students at his college seemed to have a similar one).

You have to choose carefully if you wear teen clothing, but plain basics are fine. I particularly like Johnnie B boat neck tops, pretty similar to the adult breton tops and the same quality fabric, but much cheaper. I often wear them to work under a blazer, nobody would know they were from the teen range.

I'm 5ft 6" and have bought a couple of tops from the H&M teen range.

Not me, but my sis who is 40 and looks about 17 is teeny and a size 6/8. She often buys kids clothes, and always looks fab.
