Need help here - I am 47 ....normal size but far from beach body perfect (there will be no bikini)...invited to my younger sisters 40th with her even younger, skinnier girlfriends - we will have a luxury villa with pool for a week....and go out to upmarket bars etc. I want to look cool, stylish, etc -- I have zero beach holiday clothes (we go on activity holidays) - tell me what I need and should wear for each part of the day - and send me links to stuff I can buy on line now...I am thinking mostly white - with silver accessories and everything full length...send me your inspirational photos...

What month are you going? Temperature varies quite a lot from easter when you may need more layers through to the height of summer when you won't want to be wearing much at all!

It's hard to say without knowing what your best features are. If you have good boobs I would say maxi dresses are a very good way to go. Plain, simple design, nothing fussy.

this could work well for the evening.

Or this.

I would wear plain flip-flops, black or white and get a fake tan before you go.

If those are a bit expensive, this is lovely and could go all day.

Or this

Anything there?

I think Beefa is a great place for being yourself
It's very very glam and very very relaxed at the same time, so don't over do it as it isn't try hard or overdone

Short denims and any sort of nice jersey vest with a stack of jewellery works day and night as long as you have decent flat leather sandals/flipflops

this sort of thing with lots of big jewellery and v simple shoes is de riguer...you will see 12 million loose kaftan type things
body confident!
great cover up

oh also I think that maxi dresses often make people look like floating sofas and can be indescribably naff
it treads a fine line imo

Have a look at Facebook and see if you can see any of your sisters friends holiday photos and get an idea of what they wear? I actually found maxi dresses not very flattering on me and some fabrics made me hot and sweaty round my legs. Those pj type loose cotton trousers were useful on my holiday when I needed to keep my heat rash covered legs covered, I took them incase I got too many bites on my legs. Denim shorts are also a must.

rather than full length, knee length prob works better in the heat? any of these?

skirt chartreuse skirt

white dress

am looking for a metallic tank and a leather look pencil skirt for you too (I reckon these work best with jersey panels but having difficulty finding a UK one - I live is australia)

Lucky you, have a great time. I just after aspiga and Heidi Klein (sorry no links but easy to find), think they have the sort of wardrobe items you are after Smile

I think you need to start with your biknis and work from there. So personally I wouldn't go for a white bikini but navy would work with well with white and silver.

I'd then look for some kaftan/cover up type thing - there will be loads coming into the shops soon. If you want to spend then yes to Heidi Klein or Melissa Odabash but Zara, the white co and even m&s have done some great cover ups in the past few years. Just avoid polyester.

For shorts, I love J Crew - especially these which would look great in white.

For shoes, I'd go classic and havianas silver of course

But as its still a bit early for summer stuff, if I were you I'd start a pinterest board and start pinning anything you like the look of now and then try and find similar things as they come in the shops.

MrsCampbellBlack gives great advice Smile. I second The White Company for good quality but not extortionately priced tunics etc.

J Crew also very good for holiday clothes and generally has a ruched bustier swimsuit that is glam and forgiving of less than perfect tummies.

If you want to spend £££££ the French brand Eres does beautiful flattering swimsuits - last year I got a beautiful bustier swimsuit in an amazing shade of red with just a hint of pink.

That eres swimwear is gorgeous Bonsoir.

The J crew shorts look short, unless you have great legs, I wouldn't like to compete with younger women in those?

I love eres too! One day . . .

The j crew shorts come in different lengths and aren't that short but they are of course shorts.

But if you have reasonable legs then they're a nice shape.

Just re-read you won't do a bikini - violet lake also do lovely swimsuits.

If you are on a budget Tk Maxx have some nice looking swimsuits and cover ups online. There are also a few silk French Connection dresses.

If its hot, don't wear shorts! Yuck to having all that material round the crotch.

Skirts all the way imo. Much more flattering.

An over sized linen or cotton white shirt is a staple for me when on holiday.

Knee length jersey dresses are useful too. Boden have some nice ones (if you choose a non-patterned o e you'll still look cool)

Acne currently has a great bustier top in tangerine (also black and cobalt) that would be great holiday wear.
