Does semi permanent hair colour really come out?

I'm thinking of dyeing my hair slightly darker with loreal casting Creme gloss but I don't want it to last forever I will want my natural colour back! Does it really come out?
Also what colour! I have dark ashy blonde hair and want a slightly darker and warmer colour.

If you're dyeing over lightened hair then no, not really. It doesn't properly come out.

I'm usually blonde but went a different colour, wanting to go back to blonde the hairdresser snipped some off and put it in a foil with bleach. After three days it hadn't even begun to strip the colour out. Pre-lightened hair literally sucks colour in.

I'll be dying over natural hair colour so hopefully it won't suck it in!

Out of all the semi permanents I've used I've found Casting the most stubborn at staying in my hair tbh.

I've only ever used semi permanent dyes and they have NEVER totally washed out...last used one eleven months ago and I can still see the last few cm of it at the ends of my hair.

Not pre lightened either.

So, no -in my experience they don't ( and that's even with using head and shoulders over and over to try and strip the colour, as advised here!)

Maybe my hair is just really porous!

I only use semi permanent dye. The colour fades over time so you never really have roots showing but I can't recall what my normal hair colour is and I leave it quite a while between dyes!

Mine never washed out ever, had to get it bleached out in the end, and it was definitely a semi

Doesn't wash out of mine, had to grow it out. And I'd dyed my 50% grey hair back to my natural very-dark-brown so I just looked like a badger for a while.

Some dyes have a stronger pigment than others but IME they never totally wash out.

In fact mine is permanently dyed now because I use a semi once a week as it's a very high maintenance colour.

Ah I see. Thank you. This is making me reconsider... I don't want to have to grow colour out!
Any recommendations of brands that do wash out a little easier? Or are just good colours?

Casting does not fade on my hair, it grows out. I find it no different to using a permanent dye.

Most semi permenants are actually quasi permenants they fade out but never really go away, nice and easy 6-8 washes is about the best for washing out. It's about £3 in savers or superdrug

DD1 put some blue in her hair over the summer. It was supposed to wash out in about 8 washes. Her hair is still slightly blue.
