No one says this in rl. They say "a stripey t shirt " fgs

Chugchug Sun 27-Jan-13 09:33:02

I'll second Dona fashion does have it's own language and a Breton top simply describes the style of top, it's not simply a striped top, that can mean so many styles of tops.

I don't be on S&B an awful lot but every time I am you are moaning and slagging things off Maureen I don't think that's what S&B is about. Maybe that's why I don't come here an awful lot.

And they keep asking why the AW thread went underground...

Time for another MN break for me, I'm afraid.

MaureenShit Sun 27-Jan-13 09:39:42

lol - thanks Dona. so thoughtful smile

MaureenShit Sun 27-Jan-13 09:40:08

lol at po

You pop your colour

DonaAna you offer such helpful advice, please don't be gone long. I lurk on your perfume threads.

Currently there seem to be an awful lot of posters complaining that they don't like certain aspects of MN, I wish they were the ones that would stop posting, to not spoil it for everyone else.

I completely agree that specialist topics have their own specialised language.

"A trouser" makes me want to kill the sayer. I heard Trinny and bloody Susannah say "a jean" once.

I do like Breton tops though. Proper ones <flees>

'A black pant'!

Breton, for anyone interested. A nice read.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid Sun 27-Jan-13 09:55:25

Though I can understand people feeing pissed off with a terminal whinger in a particular section.

It's like someone piling into the Litter Tray and going on about how rubbish cats are.

Anyway apologies. I only came in because of Active Convos.

BikeRunSki Sun 27-Jan-13 09:55:27

But a Breton Top is different to a ordinary stripey T shirt. It's a particular styling, spacing of stripes and neckline. They are usually quire heavy fabric.

I am no style guru, but I have bern wearing Breton tops from sailing shops and France for 25 years. Also stripey Ts from the high street. Not the same thing.

MaureenShit Sun 27-Jan-13 09:56:07

lol at Ariel

Branleuse Sun 27-Jan-13 09:56:07

i call them breton tops. Theyre different from stripy tops., Its a distinct style.
get over it

MaureenShit Sun 27-Jan-13 09:56:44

PLEASE let people have a huff over a t shirt

* falls to knees *

ArielThePiraticalMermaid Sun 27-Jan-13 09:58:15

Why are you lol-ing at me? confused

I'm leaving now. Sorry S&B.

<helps Maureen up>

Bad Maureen. I suggest that you sit in the naughty corner and have a think about your attitude, young lady.

These threads do seem pointlessly negative and repetitive.

One wonders where she gets the energy, at her age.

noviceoftheday Sun 27-Jan-13 10:06:39

I just said this on another thread......

You don't like thread? Hide it. Simple.

Perhaps I should say here.....

You don't like topic? Hide it. Simple.

HTH.

Dona Ana. I want to <like> your post at 9.13
I have had perhaps 3 posts on this board but I adore lurking here.
I've bought products based on your enthusiasm. Ive learned new brands (new Cos addict).
I don't mind a little bit of undermining pomposity (of which there is a lot in fashion) but a continuous stream of dislike says more of the proposer than the subject.

shine0ncrazydiamond Sun 27-Jan-13 10:25:14

Now..how did I know this would be you I opened the thread? grin

chewingguminmyhair Sun 27-Jan-13 10:27:53

I thought style and fashion was supposed to be fun? We can take the piss, surely! grin

I like the style and beauty boards and I like this thread.

dexter73 Sun 27-Jan-13 10:29:01

novice - I'm not sure if your post is aimed at Maureen or the people who have come on here to complain, it could apply to both!

noviceoftheday Sun 27-Jan-13 10:35:09

Dexter73 it's both grin. What's with the whingers this morning? I like S & B because it's good fun and the regulars are light hearted. I like reading about what other people have or like or want. If it would upset me, I would hide topic, rather than coming to spoil it for everyone else.
