Boy's 80's fancy dress

Hi everyone,

We're going to an 80's fancy dress party in a few weeks and wondered if you could give me any ideas on what I could put my boys in. They're 5 and 6.

I don't really want to spend a lot of money on outfits knowing they'll only be worn once.

I had thought about buying green leggings and top and trying to make a papier mache teenage mutant hero turtles shell. I'm not very creative though so don't know how that would turn out!

Any ideas much appreciated

Continuing with the TV theme:

Thundercats - spike up their hair and do lion/tiger face paint. Clothes would prob need leggings and vest or similar.

Blockbusters - cut out cardboard hexagons in white and blue, write letters on them and pin them on a yellow top?

Ghostbusters - all in one overalls plus backpack plus super soaker

Or dress them in bright colours with eg legwarmers and neon bits - they could be the kids from Fame?

Bros!

Blond hair would be useful (and you'd have to find a willing 'Kevin' or whatever The Other One) was called.

I dressed my DS up for an 80s Party (as Wham Grin type)

Big white T-Shirt, cut the arms off to make a vest (so the armholes will be big).
Write RELAX with black marker pen, nig capital letters.
A vest underneath.
Combats rolled up to mid-calf
Baseball boots
Rubber bangles (like the belt from vacuum cleaner)
Flurescent socks
Double belt- I bought 2 thin studded belts and did one round his waist, one longer so it was round his hip on one side.

Yes, I'm a child of the 80s Blush (as in it was my era, not born in the 80s)

Thanks guys, there's some fab suggestions here. I think my favourite is the blockbusters idea. It's probably the easiest and cheapest to do!
