Help - can I wear this?

I ordered this in cream & gold dress to wear out on Saturday but it is very, VERY short and I have, and I believe the technical term is, thunder thighs!

Do you think it would be wrong to wear it with black tights or leggings? I wouldn't want to wear a black cardigan with it really as I'm a summer and shoulnd't really put black by my face.

Not sure really. If you have thunderous thighs I would honestly say don't wear it as not sure black tights or leggings would look good sorry. Also I know from my own experience if I have not been 100percent sure on a 'going out' outfit then I have not really relaxed or enjoyed evening

I dont think it would look right with black tights/leggings.

Black opaques and black heels would be fine. It's a lovely dress Smile

do you think a really good pair of nude, firm control tights would work? [hopeful emotion!]

I'm 32 by the way - will I look like mutton?

No you won't look like mutton - but how thunderous are your thighs ? It was your size not your age that was the concern

I weigh about 10st 7. I'm a size 8-10 on top and a 12 on bottom - pear shaped. Maybe I should take a picture of me in the dress and post?

a)you'll be freezing and b) I agree with cazza - you are clearly not comfy with the outfit and you'll just worry all night. I suspect you can find something more flattering.. With what I can see of your skin tone, maybe a lovely caramel/goldy top, jacket and trousers with killer heels? Its a gorgeous dress on the top half but I personally think babydoll dresses are for teeny tiny size 6 teenagers with tans to wear in Ibiza

Tis very short - are you quite tall?
With the lining only coming to 1-2" before the dress ends could be quite revealing - will you be doing any sitting down & what will the lighting be like?
btw - I don't think your thighs are v thunderous Smile
Could you post a pic with black tights (but am pretty sure it will be a no tbh)

Report
sweetheart · 16/03/2012 19:56

No I'm not very tall - Only 5ft 5.

rocketfox Grin thanks for the gentle honesty!

I'll try and do a pic with black later - just about to eat tea.

You really don't have 'thunder thighs' honestly!!!

It's a lovely dress, actually I think it's more of a top, that could be my age though, it's definitely too short to wear as a dress, but would look fab with leggings. Black may look OK, I think it would go with the silver, and if you accessorise with something else black, maybe in your hair....What other colour leggings do you have/could you get?

narniasnarnia · 16/03/2012 20:07

Just seen that the dress is cream/gold, so I don't think balck leggings would be right (I was thinking it was white/silver dress, hard to tell from hte photo).

I would go for gold/caramel/brown leggings if you can...

hmm, it rises up too much in the middle at the back tbh.

i can't advise what to wear with it tho, as don't do dresses and have no right to suggest anything!!

That is ever so short, i think tights will be a no no - I agree about wearing it like a long top with some straight leg/skinny trews underneath?

Report
londonone · 16/03/2012 20:15

I would say no. To me it is a dress for the 22 and under crowd. Personally I think it will only really flatter very very slim women or girls really. You look to have a lovely figure but not sure that dress is best for it. Also you will freeze your arse off Smile

Your legs are fine, but the dress is horrible. Sorry.

agree with tethersend, it doesn't do anything but emphasis your legs.

agree with tethers - it's the dress that's the problem not your legs - it just looks cheap and horrible

sweetheart · 16/03/2012 20:30

ok, ok I take your points. I did also order it in pink and gold with a black skirt but didn't like those as much.

Have to think what the bloody hell I am going to wear now though!

If it's that short on you at 5'5", then I hate to think what it would be like on someone like me at 5'8"!

By the way you don't have thunder thighs - definitely a dodgily made dress only for those of 5'2" and under!
