I don't want to wear running tights. I have a pair but they always feel like they will come down. What do sport MNers wear when they run? At the moment I always run in the dark as I look so bad.

I look like a pile of shite usually,I wear running pants but proper ones that stay put not the cottony type used for the gym,a crappy old technical top,either mine or currently dh as am few llbs overweight,a lightweight zip top that always comes off even in this weather and a pair of proper running socks.If night/low visibility then I have a very stylish high viz vest that goes over the top of all other layers.

I told you,total tramp me but then I don't give a monkeys arse what others think

I have been wearing an old pair of m&s trousers for years but yesterday bought some Adidas supernova tights. I know you said you don't like tights but I wore them this morning and thought they were brilliant. They didn't feel at all like they were going to fall down. They kept me warm and I felt they held me in a bit too.

Also a fan of running tights, think mine are from Adidas. I usually wear a cotton top and hoodie as dont sweat much in this weather. In warmer weather, I wear running shorts and a vest, both made of proper running moisture-wicking material.

These in winter and the capri version in summer.

cOrn try sports direct they sell the karimoor ones that are really good at low prices both long and capri,I have them also have some adidas and some ronhill ones also great but more expensive

I have never been running but have thought about it for years. I want to start soon, but hoped I could just wear something I already have. (No money).

I have some things that I call tracksuit bottoms <I am old>, they might be yoga pants, anyway they are synthetic, lightweight, stretchy, fitted around waist/hips and bootleggy at the bottom
Could I run in these? I see people in sort of tight capri things, and now there are these tights of which you speak, would I be making it harder for myself in something different from those?

you can run in anything you like! I am running in a pair of trackie bottoms I ordered for ds1 that were too big for him! I'm noticing lots of nicely kitted out people though and feel a bit scruffy. There are always loads of other people out running when I go.

I've got these with a matching luminous pink top that is probably visible from the moon. i have never felt like these are going to fall down and I'm fat. In the summer, I have similar Capri trouser things.

Great news c0rnsilk. But what about shoes? I don't think my skate trainers will cut it, what's the cheapest way to go?

now I like the look of the Ronhill ones because they loom like they have a high waist. There are a few pairs of ronhill quite cheap on amazon

My running tights are the most comfortable clothes I own. I wish I could wear them all the time.

And do I have to tuck my bootleggy bottoms into socks when I run to not look like an idiot?
Or should I get some ...running socks to tuck them into? What are they? I have never heard of them before this thread

I started running in any old thing I had, but once you know you're going to stick with it it's better to wear stuff that makes you feel more swift!

I don't have running socks - I wear the ds's school socks

cutted the reason I don't run in anything cotton is it gets all heavy and vile,polyester type fabrics do not absorb the sweat and become heavy and then feel sticky and possibly cold against your skin

I can't wear trackie bottoms as I don't like them flapping if they are wide legged and cant wear elasticated bottomed ones as I find them a)too hot and b) too restrictive

It's what suits you but make sure you get decent shoes,this will be your biggest outlay,go to a specialist running shop to get a gait analysis if necessary as if you use the wrong shoes you risk injury

Then jst get your butt out the door and enjoy
