DP's 30th birthday

DP always wears the same old stuff over and over again. It's always either a white tshirt, grey jumper or a plaid shirt with white t shirt underneath.
It's his 30th birthday soon and we're going out for a meal somewhere nice with friends and then maybe on to a casino or out for drinks and I want him to feel special and dressed up but don't really know what will suit him.
He is about 5ft 11 and has very broad shoulders but is average size everywhere else. He is also a baldy and looks quite a lot like a pin head in some stuff if it doesn't balance him out properly.

I'm terrible at mens fashion, does anyone have any advice on what he can wear? TIA

Tricky one. Buying clothes for anyone can be a nightmare. I buy stuff for my DW sometimes but only because I've been shopping with her hundreds of times and know what she likes. And I'm always half-expecting to take it back!

Maybe you could get him funkier versions of what he already wears (and therefore likes)? E.g. if he likes plaid shirts maybe a well cut one with bigger checks, bolder colours? If he wears jeans, a newer more stylish pair?
