Bargainous places to get a man's suit?

DP has finally admitted that he has outgrown his suit.

(he got it when he was 19 so I'm calling it outgrown rather than got too fat for as he has filled out in the shoulders since then as well as the waist)

Do any of you have any recommendations for places to get nice-but-bargainous suits?

Fortunately, I do not have to wear a suit very often. I find them uncomfortable and dull. Suits can be expensive and, as I don't wear them, I'd find it hard to spend money on them.

I generally don't like Next for mens clothes (very boring) but I would try there for suits and ties. TK Maxx is also worth checking out. Got a well made suit there for £60 a few years ago.

(Despite the name I'm using, I've never bought one in Primark!)

Got DS1 a good / trendy suit from TK Maxx. Last suit I got was from a suit place in a designer outlet closing down from about £600 to an amazing £50 - but no way to exchange or take back later - who cares at that price.

Do you know how much it takes to get a suit altered?

Just thihnking if TK Maxx or some outlet place had a designer suit for a great price that wasn't quite the right size.

Getting legs and sleeves shortened should be quite cheap / easy - after that I wouldn't bother. Places like Burtons used to do that as a service (years ago when I was a poor student working Xmas period).

Jeff Banks shops in outlet villages.
DH had grown out of his wedding suit (he was only 24) and, as eldest grandchild, wanted a new one for his grandma's funeral earlier this year. Trousers, jacket and shirt were about £110, and the lad helping us gave some really good fitting advice. Suit is wool mix, nicely cut (for DH's frame anyway).

I second Asda. The shape of the trousers around the bum is variable though!

I think for a bog standard everyday suit you can't beat Next, and I detest most clothes from Next. (I think most are cheep and nasty, but for some reason their tailoring isn't too bad)

For nice suits DH goes to outlet villages such as Bicester or Swindon.
