Somethings made me want a Gilet, I have seen a nice north face onem the Nuptse 2 vest, I like this as it's not to bulky, priced at £110 I want it to be right!

Has anyone else got any other suggestions on nice Gilets and also if you were one do you get a lot of use out of it, I am thinking with jumpers and cardi's.
Suggestions much appreciated.

I wear them for dog walking and around the house. I got nice one from Primark for 12quid. Try one of those and see how much you wear it first?

There was a thread a few weeks back on gilets...I gave my Joules one from last year a rave review. Others recommended either Fat Face or White Stuff, can't remember which.

Maybe search for that thread and see what we said at the time? Sorry am on iPad and can't link.

Hmmm been looking at the Joules one, don't like the elasticated waist bit at the bottom of the fat face one's. Like superdry but work in a high school so always feel a little weary of buying Superdry.

Will continue to look. Thanks for advice so far .......Smile

I was the one that did the gilet thread

I went out & tried lots on the majesta & the higham both joules, the crew clothing one,fat face one & plenty lower budget ones too

& the spangly winner that had to not be worn during the ridiculously warm weather butsince then has been worn daily was the dun dun dun dun

the majesta from joules £99.95 gaspingly expensive but it's down, well cut & looks lovely & I put some birthday money towards it :o

Thanks thehusbandsatcricket was trying to get screaming toddler to bed at the time I was typing on this thread earlier so didn't get a chance to search for your thread and let the OP know what we all said.

Glad you like the Joules one!

i've worn a rab nutrino gilet for the past 15 years, love em. Lightweight yet incredibly warm, you just never get cold in them. They look quite smart too, I wear with long boots and jeans out shopping etc and feel smart...strangely.

I'm a Nuptse fan...have two of them and wear them at least two or three days a week Winter, Spring and Autumn. I usually wear them with jeans, scarf and long jumpers or tops/skinnies/boots. I like the layered look Grin

I think as long as you keep the rest of your look sleek and unfussy, they won't make you look bigger than you are.

Whatever you buy - I think you'll be hooked! IMHO a gilet is a much better investment than a long quilted coat as you'll wear the gilet on many more days in the year than the coat and you can always layer up the gilet in the coldest weather - can be worn over or under another coat.

I have this year's Boden. Not much wear so far due to warm weather and only just having received it, but feels lovely and doesn't look any more horsey or desperate than any other gilet.
