Your opinion on Toeless tights

Like these

I have a knee length dress for a wedding and want to wear mules but sadly my legs are like milk bottles.

Just not sure if these are going to look really odd?

Never done the fake tan thing so too scared to risk it in case I end up streaky etc.

If you are happy with colour/finish of tights (m and s ones usually good) then go for it. I have worn these(too cold for bare legs and wanted open toe shoes) but the seam can rub between your toes and you need to check when put them up that end of tight hidden by shoe.

I have seen quite a few people with it and it always looks horrible (sorry) no matter wether they are chanel or primak persons.

If it the shape of your legs you are worried about it won't changed it if it is the colour may be a bit of tan fake or not.

I'd get someone to put fake tan on for you - I am very pale and always get streaks if I do it myself, but have had lovely results from St Tropez (not spray) done by a beautician. Or use leg makeup like Sally Hansen which gives a really good result

They look weird, sorry. I'd ditch the mules and wear normal tights with closed toe shoes OR get a tan.

They're really odd, sorry. If I looked at your legs I'd be too curious about why your legs are covered and your toes bare and it is just the opposite of the effect you want...

Have you tried wash-off tan? Read this Sali Hughes column, she is v expert... wash off tans now are a million miles better than they used to be. You'll be amazed

Sorry katy - I'm sure one can wear them in a way that looks good... just saying that, IMHO the effect you want (my, that girl looks nice, what great legs) is completely wiped out by these tights, because often when you see them, your brain is so busy trying to make sense of the foot/leg disconnect (her legs are smooth and tanned and covered in hose, how nice they loo.... WHOA! Why the fuck are her toes naked?? and scarily pale?!?) that it's jarring in the extreme. Not the effect you want, surely.

If the shoe is a peep toe that really only shows your toenails, ie of your big toe and the one next to it, if that makes sense, but not your toe skin, then they can work.

But a proper open toed sandal type thing would be weird.

I dislike the idea but then again, I dislike peeptoes.

Having your toes on display just seems pointless to me.

Definatley no to toeless tights. Have never seen a pair that look natural and realistic. Bite the bullet and get a spray tan. Get the beautician to do only one layer of spray rather than two so it looks more natural, especially if you're fair skinned or a fake tan novice. Am fair skinned and two layers makes me look like i've been tangoed.

Or...go with the white legs.

Untill we challenge the notion that not having a tan is somehow unacceptable by heading out in our droves looking milky white, people will continue to get spray tans and use leg makeup and swelter in tights.

Its like breastfeeding in public. The more people do it, the more acceptable it will become, the more normal it will be, and everyone can just get on going with that which is only natural...

Not that I think there is anything necessarily wrong with fake tan, BTW, its just that some really pale people or people with more pink undertones just look as if they've had sweet n sour sauce painted on their legs. Still pale, but with a weird yellow/orange hue that simply doesn't tone with their colouring.

Milky white looks clean and easy on the eye in comparison.

But there are plenty of people who can do fake tan so I'm by no means talking about everyone.

Those toeless tights are not a good look IMO. If you're not happy with fake tan then I'd use sally hansen airbrush legs. Agree with Tatty about fake tan tho' - if I had pale imperfection free legs they'd be out Grin

Hmmmmmm I've got to say I'm not convinced about them either but posted on here in the hope you'd convince me otherwise. Oh well. Back to drawing board.

I'm really quite pale naturally and freckle in the sun so not sure a proper fake tan is for me. Anyone tried any of those tinted moisturisers that are less likely to streak??

I keep looking at those tights too WannabeNigella but the reviews put me off them.
I have v pale legs and even products like Johnsons Holiday Skin make them look orange. Really like the Fake Bake stuff for fair skins tho here. Smells nice, easy to apply and very natural results. Worth a try?

Can I just add something about fake tan vs toeless tights. Like I said I think they are only fine if its the toenail showing (maybe 2) through an otherwise closed peep toe. But for anyone who thinks its weird to have your "toes out" but your legs covered in stocking, its equally weird to do fake tan on your legs but not your arms/decollete/neck/face. If not more so.

All or nothing.

Remember, you are not seeing yourself from a distance like others are.

Agree Tatty, however I've actually got a bit of colour on the rest of my body, just my legs refuse to go even a shade darker than milk White.

Johnsons holiday skin is OK (though I've only used it a couple of times) its a build up of colour rather than a full on agent orange. My legs are practically blue but I have a friend with pale skin which is more white-ish than blue and her legs look fine - I think she exfoliates and moisturizes a fair bit so they are smooth plus shapely and probably baby-oiled up so look lovely.
If you think the tights are ok just wear them - honestly how many people will scrutinize that closely anyway?! And who cares if they do?
