Dresses or tops that are fitted around the waist seem to be out of fashion, but I feel more confident wearing them. I've got wide hips, and clothes without a waist don't flatter them.

Tarty on anyone over a size 8-10 I would say. Small boobs a must. That's just my opinion though.

i'm not convinced that dress would look nice with wide hips, i think it needs to be quite straight down from the waist as it is on the model

just makes me think early nineties, when I was 17 and could wear stuff like that... When are you thinking of wearing it?

I think that dress would look wrong on anyone over 20 and above a size 10. It looks wrong on the model in the photo. Have you looked at wrap dresses?

not tarty if slim with small boobs and no high heels/rest of look quite low key

Why would you want to wear that very boring dress anyway? It's neither pretty nor sexy.

I am a size 6-8, I have a few (rare for me) nights out planned over the next couple of months, hen parties, significant birthday parties etc, so I was looking for something less Mumsy to wear than my usual.

I've traipsed around the shops, but everything I've tried on looks horribly frumpy. The current style seems to be tops that sag out around the waist and come in at the hips, and empire line dresses that manage to make me look pregnant.

So it is a no to that dress then, I'd be grateful for any suggestions!

I'm like the others - age doesn't matter, more about your figure and colouring. I personally think you'd need a tan to carry off that colour. Would depend how you styled it too. But I don't hate it. I would find a black body-con dress maybe for those types of dos, if you want something waisted. It sounds like you have the figure to wear something totally fab though. How tall are you?

I think the style is nice, but it is very short - I'm 26 and (if you catch me during the 5 minute window when I'm not pregnant) a size 10 and I don't think I could pull it off. That said my legs are definitely not my best feature, and it sounds like you have a fab figure so you probably could!

However, I think something fitted, black and on the knee would be fab. Not sure what you are looking to spend but I love this (also comes in blue and grey if black's not your thing) and will be snapping it up when I've had the latest sprog:

no chance of a tan, I am pale blue in colouring and always will be, I had imagined wearing the original dress with tights, but I know that would probably make it look worse.

I love that isabella oliver dress. Smile
