Fabric painting pens?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but couldn't think where else to put it.

I'm throwing a t-shirt decorating party for my dcs. I have found a place to get the t-shirts but wasn't sure what child friendly paints or painting pens (not so messy) to get and where from.

Can anyone help?

Dylon do some fabric pens, otherwise i know there are glitter pens out there too. Do you have a decent craft shop or a Hobbycraft near you? They normally always stock that kind of stuff, otherwise you could try online.

You can buy t shirt transfers for computer printers, so for a no mess solution they draw a picture, you scan it in and print the transfer and iron it on. You can't be so creative with little flowers on the sleeves and pictures on the back that way though.

We got a couple of different types from Yellow Moon. We got loads, because there were about 20 children, and found that they fell in to two camps - hard to use cleanish but not very effective, and easier to use, but very messy and took 24 hours to dry.

Check out the drying times if you want to send the t-shirts home with them. It worked out OK for us though, because they decorated bags, and we were able to send the thank you letters home inside the bags.

Have fun, the children loved it.

I saw fabric pens in Poundland recently.

What a great idea!

These ones have decent reviews... www.amazon.co.uk/T-Shirt-Graffiti-Pens-Permanent-Markers/dp/B001NF61JK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1304616670&sr=8-1&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

For something a bit more fancy, the tulip range of fabric pens are awesome but they need to dry overnight. You can create really gorgeous effects (pearl, glitter, metallic). Depends on the age of the kids really: www.amazon.co.uk/Tulip-ITDSK76G-Set-6x37ml-Glitter/dp/B0018BSO5S/ref=sr_1_3?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1304616771&sr=1-3&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21
