Help - I am shoe phobic and have to wear green, purple or black shoes for a wedding...

...can anyone help me find a pair that are dressy enough but very very comfortable?

My dress is a green, purple and black maxi dress - sounds hideous I know but it is lovely and I feel great in it.

It comes right down to my feet.

My shoe requirements are:

flat but not achingly flat

as foot shaped as I can get away with

slightly wider fitting

dressy enough for a wedding

COMFORTABLE

TIA

Would something like this work? in the green or the black?

Or do you need to have an enclosed shoe?

Any chance of a link to the dress itself, please?

That is a definite possibility piprabbit - thank you.

I tried to link the dress but it is not online. There are some tops in the same fabric so I will link one of them to give and idea.

It doesn't have to be an enclosed shoe - I am open to anything dressy enough and comfortable. My feet are nice enough looking so I don't need to hide anything [bugrin]

This is not the dress but it is similar colours if that helps at all paste here

don't know where the word "paste" came from [bublush]

I love the colours in that fabric, I'd be tempted to keep the shoes quiet simple and I do like strappy sandals with a maxi dress [bugrin].

It might be worth taking a look at the shoes in Evans if you are shopping on the high street as most of their shoes come in wider fittings as standard.

I would wear gold shoes with that- or silver depending on what jewellery you are wearing. Something like this

Thanks again piprabbit - I think you are right and strappy sandals are the way forward. I had never thought of Evans. I shall take a look.

Those are lovely TethersEnd but I can't walk in heels. I look like a farmer in drag in them [bugrin]

Is a wedge too much too?

I will look for flats...

Oooh! This is fun. I doing virtual shoe trying on. I searched Evans but nothing looked quite right, nor did anything in M&S or Next. I suspect I am very fussy and that is why I don't wear shoes [buconfused] I looked in Schuh today but the dressy shoes just scared me. I would really like to enjoy myself and not be thinking about my feet all night.

What about these purple ones?

Or these ones could be lovely, if a little more expensive.

I looooooove the Kurt Geiger ones - even as a shoe hater I can see they are lovely. I would have to do some serious justifying to myself though as they are ££££.

Katy sadly all those greens are the wrong green - it is like a peacock green/electric jade (spot the 80's girl) sort of green.

Kristina I like those ones but I am scared of the wedges.

It's interesting that both you and TethersEnd think metallic. I shall have to try some out with the dress. [buhmm]

Thank you everyone for all your help so far. My poor Mum will sympathise with you. She loves shopping but refuses to come shoe shopping with me anymore after shoe shopping with me for my own wedding [bublush]
