I'm a tad nervous but I have been thinking about cutting my hair nice & short for ages but I can't find the right cut.
I have straggly brown hair just past my norkage & I always wear it in a ponytail.

So here's a dodgy picture of me minus any make up because I have been at the park all day:

You've got lovely face shape/ eyes and eyebrows. I think something 'elfin' (ie. really quite short) would suit you. Google images on elfin/ pixie haircuts and also Mia Farrow.

dexter73 · 07/04/2011 20:49

Something like this would suit you.

poorbuthappy · 07/04/2011 20:51

also I do like your stair carpet...how about something kerry katona - ish?

And before anyone says anything awful about her, I've just had mine done similar and it looks bloody lovely!

TiggieWiggle · 07/04/2011 20:53

Did you want to go to this sort of length or even shorter?
I loved my hair when it was short and styled but I did have to wet and style it every day. It is harder work.

I would keep a we bit of length if you are quite fond of chucking it in a pony tail when you are out and about.

MerryMarigold · 07/04/2011 20:54

Mia Farrow
Posh Spice
Winona

Am jealous! I'd love to cut my hair off, but just don't have any elfin features anymore!

Lizzylou · 07/04/2011 20:55

I think a layered shoulder length style (long layers so you can still put it up) would be lovely. You have a great face, lovely eyes.

MerryMarigold · 07/04/2011 20:56

Trust me, I used to have this style and it is INCREDIBLY easy to style, but you do need a haircut about every month to 6 weeks. I think you'd look stunning.

TiggieWiggle · 07/04/2011 20:57

Sorry about my links - forgot to put the brackets round them (pregnant brain!)

Like the last one best I think.

MerryMarigold · 07/04/2011 20:58

Ooh I like the last one. I think I may have to nick it!

TiggieWiggle · 07/04/2011 20:59

Merry - I love that last one but would NEVER dare go that short. I would chicken out of it!

ongakgak · 07/04/2011 21:00

that last one is THE DEFINITION of very non trendy mum trying to look trendy. HATE IT.

MerryMarigold · 07/04/2011 21:01

"non trendy mum trying to look trendy". Summed me up perfectly Grin.

What do you all think of my really short styles. Winona anyone?

hpsaucy · 07/04/2011 21:02

Oi you gorgeous beast!!!!!! go for the winona one.....if you are brave enough!!!!

hpsaucy · 07/04/2011 21:03

also love your stair carpet. i have a door mat just like it!!!!!

tomhardyismydh · 07/04/2011 21:03

def winona you do have very similar features

upahill · 07/04/2011 21:05

Would you come back and show us when you have had it done please?

Bohica · 07/04/2011 21:06

You've all been very kind & helpfull, I don't think I can be brave enough for the really short elf styles.
DH likes Katonas new haircut so it's on the short list.

poorbuthappy Yay new carpet!! I really like it & have had lots of compliments about it although it does clash wickedly with DDs purple bedroom carpet so she now has to keep her door shut Smile

Please keep the links & advice coming....

Quite like Katie Price's in this pic.

I've got v long hair, probably a shade longer than yours and am off for the chop soon. Not going that short though, I don't have the features for it. Going for a longish bob.

ShowOfHands · 07/04/2011 21:08

Katie Holmes, fgs, bloody advert for Jordan on tv atm.

TragicallyHip · 07/04/2011 21:09

Honestly I really don't think you should go too short, defo not an elfin cut!

I like the picture dexter73 linked too. This I would say should be the shortest you should go.

MerryMarigold · 07/04/2011 21:10

Just a warning: the Katona type of cut looks like it will take a fair bit of styling, esp if your hair is quite fine. Poorbuthappy - do you need to blow dry daily? Straighten? Hair products?

fluffles · 07/04/2011 21:10

winona's is great.

but i do also like keira in tiggy's link... (but hate tiggy's others, sorry)

TragicallyHip · 07/04/2011 21:11

Please please do not get Kerry Katonas hair cut!

MerryMarigold · 07/04/2011 21:13

Keira's fringe would be so annoying though, don't you think? You'd end up clipping it off your face and looking awful.
