Argh! How do I curl my hair before I go crazy/2 O'clock?!

I'm going out to a themed party (40s burlesque) and I am really looking forward to it but want to do something to my hair to make it look in keeping.

Atm it's just below my shoulders with a bit of fringe - if I curl it do you think it'll approximate a bob? And how do I curl it?! I bought curl thingies when I was all excited by you telling my Big Hair would change my life but how do I use them? Dry hair, or slightly damp? Do I put product in there before or after?

Put product on before blow drying as usual. Use the curling wand on dry hair. I don't use heat protector spray on my fine hair as I find it weighs it down and makes it crispy!

For a 40's burlesque look, you want to curl only half way up each section of hair. Leave it until cool in the ringlets before doing anything further. Combing your fingers through it gently will give tousled waves. Brushing with a flat brush should give it waves but I can't guarantee it. Spray with fine mist of hairspray.

sorry, have written that wrong - running fingers through will create those lovely soft waves that the slebs and stunning looking french women have. Brushing with a paddle brush should give 40's style waves a la Veronica Lake.

we have a curling wand and its fab,i use it on my dd,and its easy,not sure how easy it is to do yourself though,

our one says to use on dry hair,and you should really use dome sort of heat protection as they are pretty hot (ours are 230 degree ones)
