I just bought this lovely top but ...

it doesn't match the suit I need to wear it with. Top here:www.warehouse.co.uk/ruffle-shoulder-blouse/Smart-Tops/warehouse/fcp-product/302405

It is for a christmas function but i will be seeing some clients in the afternoon so need an outfit that goes from one to the other. The suit is black (fitted italian skirt suit with beautiful sheen) and i wanted some sort of dressy, maybe silky top I could tuck in and then take the jacket off later for the party.

But the blacks don't match! Has anyone seen something similar to this top - maybe in cream and black or a different colour altogether - or some other top which would be suitable? Thanks.

I love this silk blouse and also the chain print one.
They have some lovely dresses in the sale that could double up from day to night too.

This ASOS one is a lovely colour.

Or there's this one and it comes in white, navy or nude. I think the navy is the nicest but navy and black can sometimes look a bit dull.

I love your original choice. What a shame the blacks clash.

banana republic? This is patterned but I think it would look nice. Or they also have this which comes in black or taupe.

Yes the warehouse one is really nice and quite flattering. It is a soft sort of black though. Will def keep it however! The thing I loved about the warehouse top was that it was fitted but not tight.

I really like some of these, thank you. It's hard to find something special enough for a party but also suitable for work - I was hoping to get something with a bit of black lace? So many around have sequins which is a bit much for an afternoon meeting.

i'm setting myself up for failure going for another black one right? www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Mint+Velvet+Black+applique+lace+blouse/142160091,default,pd.html?cgid=3036

I like that one notinmypocket but ruffles down the front have never done me any favours - too busty.

It's lovely too but can you tuck it into your skirt?

Amanderrr · 25/10/2010 16:16

Agree with NotInMyPocket - You might not be able to wear the Mint Velvet one tucked in.

What about this one from French Connection?

This is pretty but you'd need a cami underneath.

Or what about bright jewel coloured purple top from Coast?

no you're right - and prob not fitted enough either!

That FCUK one is gorgeous Amanderr and I like the American apparel one too. I'd have to wear a bra though, so not sure about the sheer part up top. What do you think?

Out of Amanderr's options, I like the American Apparel one the most.

I am wondering though why (when you scroll down a bit) the model in the slide show has a bare bottom? Not office friendly Grin

Ok wow. Lazy stylist?? Grin

i do like the AA one though but not sure about the looseness of it.

You could wear a strapless bra or something like this if a bra alone doesn't give enough support under the FCUK top.

Not sure if it works with sale items but if you enter VCUK15 at the Figleaves checkout you get 15% off until Nov 4th.

The AA website ought to come with a 'distract your child with CBeebies/Check your collegues aren't looking' warning.

I have this top in the blue, looks good tucked in but had to size down as it comes large. It looks a little anglomania

oasis top

This one is lovely, oasis has quite a few really nice ones actually

i have a FCUK nearby Amanderrr so will check out how low it is. I think though TBH I would be uncomfortable at work with a strapless bra on - don't want to spend the meeting hitching myself up! Grin

That top is pretty happily, but I'm after something a bit more glamorous i think for the party.

I almost bought this one, but am unconvinced about the volume ...

New day, new suggestion!

Coffeenut - I think you're right with the above, too much volume to tuck it in.

What about this, a bit different from the first choices but works well tucked into a skirt.

coast top

notnimypocket i love that one! i think we have a winner .... hopefully ...

I'll have to take the suit skirt to coast to make sure it matches ...!!

and find a bra - do you think a crossover would work?!

One of the halterneck style bras might do the trick as well.
So glad we could finally sort you out! Grin

Just found a basic "5 way" bra on the john lewis website which will probably work.

Thanks once again notinmypocket and everyone else! (fingers x'd it matches and I'm not back on to bore you all some more!)
