All round coat.. nothing flash or "trendy"

I have a nice trench coat, and I have a quilted "outdoorsy" type thing for dog walking etc. The first is a nice style, but not warm and no hood. The latter is cosy as toast but fugly really.

Something in between - warm, cosy, with a hood, but not too dowdy.

Any ideas? I saw a lady at school yesterday in a really smart parka, know that sounds possibly a contradiction in terms, but it was really nice. Didn't know her well enough to ask her where she got it though!

I am out dog walking rain or shine and have just brought the Merrel Haven.Its lovely nice big pockets for poop bags and treats keys ect. I love mine was stood in the playground this morning as warm as toast.
