Panicking about imminent but rare night out- help!

Tomorrow night dh and I are going out for dinner and drinks to celebrate a good friends birthday. Cue the panic. Not been anywhere vaguely smart since...well I can't remember. Local curry house doesn't count does it!

Had a major shop up today in Primark and am quite pleased with the things ive bought until I realise I've just bought casual stuff. Aaaargh!

If I'm not at work my "uniform" is one of my many girly patterned circle skirts with a fitted scoop neck t shirt and a little cardi. I like the 50's vibe. But this is daywear I think, I have nooooo idea what to wear of an evening.

Quite like the leggings/little rara skirt/ puffy shoulder cardi look but is this evening-y? Or even appropriate for a 34 yr old who is 4 stone overweight and possibly not as confident as she could be?

Help!

I would not personally do puffy stuff if carrying extra weight. (which I am). This includes rara skirtage.

Do you have (for example) a sparkly cardi amongst collection> that's what I normally do to turn day 'uniform' into hight 'uniform' and sparkly up my make up a bit.

Sorry for types been on the bubbly.

No sparkles at all, not a sparkles person (sequins and suchlike make me look like a big shiny sausage!)

It's a chiffon rara though so quite flat if that makes sense. Plus I need something to balance me out, with having ginonorks and all.

But the fact that I am a bit reticent about it makes me think that I shall wear...a circle skirt. Surprise surprise!

Well, I do thinkm wear what you are comfortable in otherwise you will spend the whole evening twitching. So that's your bottom half sorted now what about the top?

As it's dinner, most of the time you'll be sitting down and so top (and jewellery, etc) will be all peple see. I always tend to forget this, concentrate on skirts, shoes, boots, etc and find at last minute I only have boring tops to wear!

It not a full dinner, just a few tapas type things and then bars. Panic mounting think the dress code is glam- maybe tux trews killer heels and a longline off the shoulder fine knit jumper would do?

Or what about a lovely semi satin pencil skirt instead of the trou? But like your point about the top half accessories- maybe will wear some monster pat butcher earrings ;)
