I have a stone coloured leather handbag that I really need to clean before hols on Wedenesday. What should I use? Any home cleaning tips that would work?

saddle soap

from Waitrose, Timpson, Mr Minute etc or if you're posh- from your local saddlery, or Hermes.

don't use a baby wipe!

Can I butt in and ask how you use the saddle soap? I've got a Mulberry bag that looks like it's had its day.

Nail varnish remover- test on small area first but works a treat.

OMG do not use baby wipes, nail varnish does work on ink stains, but be soooo careful as it will take the colour off.

Use a good quality leather cream, same as you would on a decent pair of shoes. Like this one..

leather cleaner

with saddle soap you just make a lather with a soft cloth or sponge and a wee bit of water and massage it in to the leather. No rinsing- just buff when it's dry. it conditions the leather.

Mulberry do loads of different leather finishes- i'm sure they'll be able to advise on exactly what to use on yours

Local shoe repairer told me to use leather cream, too.

Well I went to Timpson and bought some Saddle soap, have tbh both me and the Tipmson's men were a bit Hmm but it seems to have worked well, assuming that my bag doesn't disintegrate overnight! Thanks Smile.

I use Pledge Blush
But I don't have any posh handbags. They're all big leather shoulder bags from TK Maxx, big enough to lug baby wipes / dinosaurs / toy cars / cartons of juice along in.
My days of swanky bags are long gone since DS arrived.
