Along with dsc, has anyone taken on a DPs pets? And how do you feel about them?

DP moved in 2 years ago with his three boys and they live with us exactly 50/50. Ups and downs as expected but we all rub along really well and life is good. I have taken them into my heart and DP has done same with my DD.

It's his animals I can't stand. And it's taken me 2 years to say it. A cat and a dog. I just don't like them.

It's the same scenario isn't it? You knew what you were getting into when you agreed to move in. But my house stinks, hair everywhere. Piss on the floor, just after coming in from a walk - Give me another 3 dsc any day of the week. Just take these animals off me!

I sound awful, I know I do. But I just cannot love them. I don't treat them badly, in fact I am on top of all grooms, vets etc. DP does most of the walking feeding etc so it's not even that I'm left to deal with them, it's just I wish them to not be here.

Anyone else? Is this even a step parenting issue? I'm well aware that IABU

I moved in with my DP and he has a cat. The cat is rather annoying at times, clawing at stuff, yowling and sitting on the keyboard when I'm working from home but mostly she just sleeps. I feed her sometimes but my DP does everything else. I just wouldn't really choose to have a pet if it was up to to me.

Dp had a dog and I had a cat. Dp claimed to be allergic to the cat but now sits whole evenings with him on his chest.

I adored the dog who we lost two years ago. He was old and always messing the floor.

But, you either like and want pets or you don't. If you don't, well, it's unlikely to change isn't it? And there's not much you can do.
