ESS is 17 today, he and his dad have gone off in my car to start driving lessons, I've sent them to the very quiet local area I learnt to drive in.

ESS is a wonderful young man, I'm incredibly proud of him and I'm thrilled that I'm part (in a very minor way), of this right (rite?) of passage.

Do you mean DSS as in Dear Step Son? In any case good for you!

ESS eldest stepson, but he is also very dear, as is youngest stepson.

It is exciting for them isn't it? My eldest DSD learned to drive in my car, as DH's car is a 7 seater. It was also me who took her out for practice, not DH, as he is a dreadful backseat driver who gets nervous with me driving (and I am a very good driver!) I don't think their relationship would have survived him sitting in the car whilst DSD refused to drive above 2nd gear and cut across pavements. She failed first time round but passed second time :)

Hope the first lesson for yours goes well.

They came back very happy, apparently he did really well, and I'm taking him out on Monday.
