Minor annoyance

I just needed a place to vent this petty annoyance!

My DH keeps calling our little DD by my DSD's name! Only when she's visiting, but it really annoys me. It makes it feel like DSD is the only important thing. He's done it before and I've asked him not to but he just carries on, subconsciously.

Ok, I've vented it - I feel better now.

My dh used to call me by his ex's name - I never got too upset about it, my mother often called me the dogs name (and half the neighbours) before she got around to mine. I am just as bad with my kids - I don't love any of them any more or less my brain just isn't that focussed all the time.

You are a calmer woman than I, MoHintawnFein

I have 3 DDs and I often call them each others names before I get to the right one. I don't think any one of my DDs is more important than the others, it's just that I'm losing the plot a bit Grin

I would think that it's more normal to do this than not to do it.

Yes, it's one of those things I would find cute if it wasn't a step situation. It's half term and I am frazzled.

My DP and I have four kids between us. The middle two DS's, close in age, have similar sounding names. DP frequently calls both my DS (his DSS) and his DS a sort of cross between the two names by accident Grin I think it annoys him more than me or the boys.

It's easy to do. I'd try not to read anything into it. He's just in parent mode.

The thing I do most is to call any child by DD's name - but only when they're misbehaving Blush DD had noticed this and is most put out by it.

DP does this too. I've let it go now but it used to really irk me, so I totally understand! Yesterday he called me by DSD's name, which was a new one.
