Hermione whats er name ? That rant she had at her DH just so hit the nail on the head about the problems of blending families. It was so powerful, especially when she said 'there's a huge crack down the middle of our family' or similiar. Gonna see if l can find a link to it on iplayer or something , but it's part 2 tonight.

l kept upsetting DH by saying l bet it's the stepson wot did it Grin

Not an issue for us, but can well imagine how it must be really difficult for blended families at least sometimes....;-(

What did you think if the programme - we very much enjoyed it but wondering whether it's going to be a disappointment like The Last Weekend and Thirteen Steps Down.

Yes, agree it was very hard watching at times. That feeling that no matter how much they piss you off, and you think your DP is a much better man, your ex is the only other person who truely feels the same way you do about your kids is a feeling I can relate to too.

Yes Kaluki do because the DH ( Martin Clunes ) is being very very reasonable so far and not being Disney Dad etc but may do when things hot up more.
Gazzalw yes l think especially two groups of hormone ridden teenagers thrown together especially. We met when our DCs were all grown up so they never actually ever lived together with us but l can imagine !
I thought it was very very good, very watchable, there hasnt been many dramas based around this subject which is very topical these days (blended families etc).
I have a theory that is nothing to do with either of their sons but am usually way off.

Yes Purple cos she went to see him didnt she cos she just couldnt bear to confide in her DH about the trainers, though that was very sad when she was struggling with it when he was asking her what's wrong. She just couldnt trust him with that information enough to not go straight to the police and hand her son in - even though it might have been his own son who 'borrowed the trainers' . Whereas she could trust her sons father to only want to protect their son.

I think it's his son...but I hope not as that would be too obvious. Enjoying it so far but no experience of blended family

Report
gazzalw · 04/09/2012 12:03

Yes, I think it's his son too - he's the one who seems to have 'issues' with the blended family and seems rather furtive.... and surely her son would have got rid of the trainers rather than leaving them under his bed????

I thought that too unless he was trying to frame his SB. How did his mum die? Do we know?

Suda, is this you ?

I think they'll throw a few more twists in this tonight - I reckon the younger sister going AWOL on the same evening has got to be connected somehow.

Yes do Ladydeedy, but watch part one on ITVplayer first - it's on there now. Part 2 is tonight.

Purple - god yes you're right l had forgotten about that. Because in these mini dramas every incident is relevant usually somewhere down the line isnt it ! Maybe she killed her for stealing her brothers trainers or Paul Mcgann character did it cos she did something to his daughter. Cant you see why l am not a writer !

I will watch it but will have to do so when DH is not about, this kind of thing upsets him too so I steer clear of it Wink .

EverybodyKnows I don't think this is our suda with the HWNSNBM is it? She wouldn't creep back so quietly to SP without letting us know. Grin

Sorry Ladydeedy just re-read your post and realised you said you were gonna catch up on it so obviously you are gonna watch Part one before Part two - duh.
l didnt mean to be patronising just get a little bit overexcited sometimes when l discover something like this and really dont want others to miss it. l dont get out much .

l once texted, phoned and emailed a mate about six times in a day to be sure to watch a certain film cos the bloke in it is just like my DH.

We have to watch it at ten now as it clashes with second part of 'The Accused' with that comedian in.

Strangely enough that is about step families aswell and was very good last week but trouble is it's the usual wicked devious evil stepmother slant .

OMG just a thought . l do hope in 'Mothers son' it doesnt turn out to be Hermiones character or we will never live down our reputation at this rate Hmm .

Poison Apple anyone ?

Nah, won't be her - we've seen too much of the story from her point of view.

Although remember it was the narrator in The Last Weekend who was the villain!

I thought the daughter late in at first was to give us some idea of the panic and tension. I don't think the spliff smoker did it.

There was a comment about the content on his son's computer...not her son's which was the one she hacked into...Hmm

It's on...quick!!!!

It was quite uncomfortable to watch with DH as its a bit of an elephant in the room for us... The whole if push came to shove i'd pick my child over you and yours thing!
