Your bank holiday weekend

I just wondered how those of you who had your step children got on this weekend?

After my last few posts, I thought I would come and let you know the positives from this weekend.

We had DSC from Friday afternoon to this morning and I'm pleased to say that everything went well.

DF was around nearly all weekend and took on the lions share of the care. I enjoyed spending time with all the DSC and with DS, and the eldest was off out doing her sport with her friends, which was nice for her too.

I really do feel that it's how our partners behave that really shapes how we can deal with being step parents. As DF doesn't leave all the mundane stuff to me when he is there, it means that I am more than happy to read stories at bed time, help them with stuff and sit and have a nice conversation with them. If I had been left to do all the chores for them, everything else for them becomes a chore too and it's easy to end up resentful.

I hope he stays this way for ever - time will tell.

Hooray, I'm really pleased for you.

DSS (8) got back from being away with his Mum and insisted on seeing us on Saturday evening (even though we had been out and weren't expecting to get back until after his bedtime) as he was excited to give me a present that he'd bought (but he didn't get anything for DH!) So the card that he drew for me is on the mantelpiece in the front room Smile
