My son will not wash, cut or brush his hair. He has ADHD. He is 11. He uses his hair as a curtain to hide behind, I do understand that, but it is so long and tangled and he wont let me wash it or brush it.

I have tried threats and bribes, but it is still a battle of wills. I don't think I can let this one go but don't know how to handle it either.

Has anyone else got any experience of this.

We have problems with hair brushing and washing here too. My DS also hates having his hair cut but he hates his hair in his face more so accepts the cutting of it.
It stems from extreme sensitivity of the scalp in my DS's case and I have heard that this is pretty common in children with SN.
I have to say DS is also 11 and I just threaten to ban the computer for a week if he wont brush/wash it or let me do it. - this morning I threatened to ban them for a week if he didn't let me brush it as he had made such a useless attempt at it. I brushed it and He screamed the whole time as if he was in agony. BUT he had neat hair at the end of it.
I know it sounds drastic and you may not want to be as "cruel" as me, but I wanted to let you know you are not alone.
