Have I Just 'Seen' the INVISIBLE?

I was at a wedding reception on saturday....and was chatting to the bride about my boys- she then said her son was recently diagnosed with ASD ,...and that her friend at the wedding has a son with Aspergers....

Now i was too polite to ask her to point him out ())....but i was 'drawn' to a lad who was intent on examining the display of bugles/trumpets fixed on the wall all over the place.
So i left the reception wondering if he was THE one....

So today i collected my 3 from the autism club- and THERE HE WAS!!!

Reason i'm posting this is that i feel so angry at the momnet that NOONE is listening to me about Alex- so i start to doubt myself- then seeing this lad today made me realise that I do know what i am looking at .

Hope i have not offended anyone...i wasn't lookingh at him as a Zoo exhibit....

It was good for me too to see a child with a dx of AS/ADHD (like my eldest) ...who was functioning at a similar level.....and to be drawn to him was a lovely feeling- as i want to train to work with AS/ADHD...and this experience backed up what i am told - that being that i am insightful.

BRAG over with!!!!

Brag away, MrsF!

I think working with AS/ADHD is a really good idea. You'd be really good at it IMHO.

When ds2 went to a taster session at his future pre-school I'm sure I spotted another child on the spectrum too. There were a few little things that made me wonder - and then he took my hand and put it on a toy he wanted me to spin for him. Hmm.....

i was filling in leighs DLA form last night (yawn) and was on the therapy page...i realised that i do at least 4 therapies....and that got me thinking more about working with children with ASd...as i honestly do get a buzz by any tiny improvement.

I'm particularily interested in Eating problems- and helping leigh identify/deal with his emotions.

You always have really good ideas about problems with food. (Gawd I sound like an @rse-kisser! ). I still think that one day you should write some kind of handbook with all your tips and ideas in. Of course there will be a separate section for laminating, velcroing and general arty stuff.

I made a scale for J of smiley faces 0= tears through to 5=best day ever - I actually got some info out of him about school that way - more than the teacher ever wrote in the home/school book!
