Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps has ADHD

Feature in this week's Times magazine - he used to be on medication and his mum runs an organisation for parents of kids with ADHD - he says swimming helped him get off medication.
Actually from the article got the sense (possibly mistaken) that he is somewhere on the ASD spectrum too. Inspiring.

I had heard this myself. I actually commented to my DH that he was probably spectrummy too because of his extraordinary ability to focus and unusual emotional response. It interested me that he was infuriated by his goggles at the end of one final even though he had just won another gold and beaten the world record. This is the sort of misplaced reaction I might see in my AS DS.

Just my musings.

Yes I agree. They describe him as sitting with his mouth slightly agape like a teenager at one point, and how he plays with his blackberry instead of answering.
He sounds a nice guy though, very grounded (ironically!)
