why does my (usually supportive and generous) mum think it is acceptable to badger me every few months to have another child just coz DS has relatively mild SN.

apparently
1)I need to know the joy of a normal child
2)I'm mad not too
3)other people in my position would have another child (to have another child)

etc.

I finally snapped today and told her

1)does she think DS is subhuman
2)I do not want to discuss this issue again, ever.

btw I have good mental health reasons for not wanting to go through another PG, regardless of DS's issues.

How did she react?

It is your business whether or not you want a child - not surprised you snapped.

well yes, maybe I should suggest to her that she may not ever have had the joy of a normal child by having me

TC your mum sounds like mine but i think we have had that convo before.
It is exactly the kind of thing my mum would say to me, if i wasn't single i'm sure she would have. Like Tclanger said stick to your guns and i'm not sure how you kept calm enough that you only said what you did.
