Tendon transfer in hands

Has anyone any experience of tendon transfer surgery in hands? Ds (13, CP) may need to have one to improve function in his left hand.
I've heard about this being done on legs, but never hands. Obviously if it will help him I'm keen to get it done but he had a really nasty experience with spine surgery three years ago so need to weigh this up carefully.
Thanks, HTH.

No Fio totally different. Unless your dd has cerebral palsy as ds does, I wouldn't like to hazard a guess. Well, perhaps a tight tendon?
DS does have cerebral palsy affecting all limbs, but especially those on his left. His left hand has never had more than 10-15% use but since he broke his arm last summer, the hand is hanging virtually useless.
The aim with this surgery would be to restore it to a more level position and to give him a bit of rotation.
Sorry not to be more helpful. It appears not many people have experience with this either!
